Role Responsibilities

The Commodity Trade Finance Team (\xe2\x80\x9cCTF\xe2\x80\x9d) is a centralized commodity trade finance team of industry experts. They are responsible for bringing the whole spectrum of trade products both vanilla and non-vanilla/bespoke to the Commodity Client base of the Bank, including from external partners as appropriate. The CTF team will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring that the CTF portfolio of the Bank is optimal to deliver the risk-reward outcome.
  • That the structuring of the facilities at the client level will achieve optimal risk-reward outcome. This will include need for sustainable RoRWA and other financial metrics derived from Trade and Cash products, within the CTF portfolio.
  • Monitoring of client-level risk metrics and red flags, such as, financial performance, fulfilment of facility conditions, deferred documentation, deficiencies or exceptions in transactional documents, internal red flags from FCSO / CFCC, external red flags such as negative news.
  • The end-to-end trade cycle at transaction level, including controls and monitoring.
CTF is a core part of the product management team that is accountable for ensuring that the solutions developed are compliant with the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures, regulatory framework as well as ensuring that the products and process are in line with market needs and overall strategic product directions. Strategy
  • Help define together with other internal stakeholders the long term strategic and tactical client level strategy.
  • Help setting the global Trade risk appetite for CTF business.
  • To Include digitization agenda in the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with implementation, client management and service teams to ensure consistent and superior client experience.
Business
  • Drive and co-own client Trade P&L for assigned clients with TB Sales.
  • Develop and sustain effective client relationships (including new to bank) at appropriate levels in the client organization.
Risk Return Optimization
  • Overall ownership of Risk and Returns for Trade & Working Capital Products in the CTF portfolio.
  • Include Trade Distribution into deal structuring to create additional RWA capacity to deliver on client requirements.
  • Align and drive robust and disciplined execution of actions plans to increase returns from Trade.
Commodities Specialization
  • Build industry insight of key players, production costs, flows, logistics and sanctions issues etc.
  • Build insight into client contact in particular building up deep knowledge with respect to financing/treasury, merchanting/arbitrage, trading/hedging, counterparties and flows.
  • Integrate knowledge of commodity trading practices into trade finance products.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc industry updates to stakeholders with implications to product strategy.
People & Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values, in adherence to our Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective and professional partnerships with internal stakeholders.
Risk Management
  • Support implementation of robust portfolio management, and ensure Trade product structures are appropriate to the level of client risk and trade risk appetite.
  • Work closely with stakeholders with respect to Portfolio Reviews, Transaction reviews, ad-hoc projects where relevant and manage Trade portfolio concentration.
  • Be the main 1LOD coordinator in managing material principal risks red flags that arise in the transaction flow and engage on any material issues arising to support timely / robust risk management.
  • Engage on clients that become stressed, support development and implementation of recovery strategies and ensure Loan Impairments are within agreed thresholds.
Execution, Commercialisation and Day to Day account management
  • Where relevant, lead Facility structuring (tenor, documents received, commodities allowed etc.)
  • Assess names / facilities before submission to Credit
  • BAU Transactions approvals (as delegated)
  • BAU Transaction monitoring including investigations
  • Conform to global standards, improve risk metrics, e-enablement & culture, and ensure no failed audits (internal & external).

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Over 15 years experience including in Commodity Finance.
  • Experience in a leading financial institution that provide trade financing and financial market products to Commodity Corporates.
  • Experience in execution of end-to-end processes.
  • Regulatory Expertise would be an asset.
  • People Management skills.
  • Risk Management experience.
  • Knowledge of industry & business process design.
