Job Summary The operational sustainability team sits within the Global Operations Engineering team and is accountable for providing strategic leadership support to the field operations team in all energy related matters to align local operations to Equinix\'s sustainability agenda. The Ops Sustainability team is responsible for creating programs and activities that deliver on the company sustainability goals and are implemented consistently across all IBX sites globally. Advising on best practices, industry trends and creating specialized content to increase awareness, the Energy Efficiency Engineer works cross-functionally with other teams to identify and implement sustainability projects and other initiatives that contribute to short term as well as long term company goals. The initiatives are aligned with the following areas: energy efficiency, local onsite renewable energy, water management, scope 1 emissions and circular economy and roll up into Equinix Corporate Sustainability Goals as published annually. This role will sit under a global team and will be expected to care for a global audience of stakeholders. Responsibilities
Technical Support

  • Identifies initiatives that contribute to achieve our sustainability goals including development of high level technical solutions
  • Evaluating the technical solution against the effect on energy efficiency (PUE reductions) including the calculation of energy savings
  • Strong engineering capabilities on the areas of mechanical, electrical and controls with experience of developing energy savings measures across all three disciplines
  • Support development of projects business case, including development of templates and tools to streamline this process
  • Acts as an SME for the Operational team on all topics related to Energy and Sustainability
  • Works with colleagues in the operational sustainability team to create content that advances the company sustainability agenda

Reporting
  • Reports progress on all sustainability initiatives as directed
  • Works with team colleagues to design and create new tools that add value to the programme leveraging the company\xe2\x80\x99s digital transformation agenda
Internal Advocacy
  • Works together with IBX Operations to perform site energy audits as needed leveraging the expertise of team colleagues
  • Attends internal meetings cross-functionally to support the delivery of the program goals and others as required
  • Works with the corporate Sustainability Programme Office to provide support with Operational related requests
Data Management
  • Analyses energy data to identify opportunities for energy improvements
  • Works with the rest of the Global Operations Engineering team to provide insights using asset data that contribute to the sustainability initiatives
Compliance
  • Aware of all regulations related to carbon compliance
  • Provides first line of support to operations teams in all matters related to carbon compliance
  • Able to understand and support ISO 500001 audit and reporting process

Qualifications Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in delivering energy management initiatives within data centers, infrastructure facilities, building management systems or any other relevant industry.
