Job Description


Job Purpose

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS is looking to hire an Executive (Data Quality Management) for the Social Lab on a yearly renewable contract. The Executive main role is to oversee the QC data administration and provide support to audit checks of survey fieldwork. He/She will have the opportunity to acquire critical QC operations skills as well as benefit from exposure to advanced data processing analysis.


  • Manage projects, including performing QC checks / audits on interviewers via telephone validations, audio audits, onsite checks, observations.
  • Supervise Data and QC Team to ensure that work is done in accordance with project specifications.
  • Review, rectify data discrepancies and upkeep multiple datasets by compiling, cleaning, and sorting information according to establish data fields to support the overall data management.
  • Scripting and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) - Checking, formatting, reviewing and testing survey links for questionnaire.
  • Ensuring data consistency and accuracy across multiple variables and different datasets in accordance with project specifications and the conventions used within the dataset.
  • Performing data coding, cleaning and processing to ensure that it is in accordance with industrial standards of SSOC and SSIC or the related code frame provided.
  • Managing longitudinal panel data, including merging and stacking of panel data, across different waves via syntax.
  • Operational Data Analysis and Reporting: Using SPSS/Excel to perform data validation and updates on key variables to identify issues related to data collection and quality to generate quality reports.
  • Using SPSS to visualise relevant key variable using tables, or other relevant visualisation tools, to identify possible issues/ understand the breakdown of these key variables for decision making.
  • Training interviewers in accordance with project\'s specification to ensure that the quality of interviews is kept at high standards.
  • Provide timely feedback to the Field team based on the validation results to rectify any data discrepancies.
  • Evaluate and generating report for the quality of data collected by the interviewers.
  • Liaise with vendors on project-related logistic matters.
  • Liaise with clients to process data within their requirements.
  • Assist in vetting of translation on survey questionnaires when required.
Qualifications
  • Must have at least a bachelor\'s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience working with data related to government-related research projects and longitudinal panel datasets.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a market research field
  • Must have experience in coding SSOC & SSIC.
  • Have prior experience in training new staff.
  • Must be keen and interested in data analysis.
  • Must possess strong data management skills; have strong computer knowledge, programming knowledge and web development experience in SPSS, Python, R and HTML.
  • Must know how to use and have experienced using Case Management System, SPSS DimensionNet and Qualtrics for Data Collection; have a solid knowledge of writing SPSS syntax for data logic check and data processing.
  • Must be fluent in at least 2 languages in terms of speaking, writing and listening.
  • Must be meticulous and good with details.
  • Must have the ability to prioritise workload, be resourceful in getting things done to meet deadlines and cope well with stress.
