Job Purpose/ Role
Allianz Re acts as Allianz Group\'s portfolio manager with Claims playing a key strategic role across the four main focus pillars. Claims not only reviews and manages inwards exposure from Group Operating Entities but also Third Party clients.

A further key priority is the support of the Retrocession Team in the collection, analysis, and positioning of data towards claims presented to Group covers placed. Claims also provides portfolio reporting to support multiple internal stakeholders, mainly across Finance and Underwriting communities.

Your role will include:

  • To actively handle and drive solution orientated activity on individual losses, loss complexes / events, and at a portfolio level.
  • Provide coverage analysis, advice and claims \xc2\xb4learnings\xc2\xb4 feedback to stakeholders (principally Client Management, Underwriting, and Finance) across AZ Re.
  • For strategically supported business segments to guide and support OE\xc2\xb4s with efficient, leveraged technical advice and experience to enable upper quartile claims service to underlying clients.
  • The role requires pro-active information sharing and expectation management of all concerned parties in the claims process.
  • The role also includes a fair amount of project management specifically related to supporting strategic business initiatives and portfolio management operating metrics.
  • To identify, prepare, and carry out claims review targets on both OE and external cedant accounts with the focus on knowledge sharing, relationship building, and building portfolio awareness (technical and operational) to feed back into the Underwriting review process.
  • To support change through collaboration in order to respond to fast changing business requirements; and to strengthen collaboration across Allianz entities.
Key responsibilities
  • Active Claims handling through analysis, communication, and giving directions, i.e. management of claims with a significant impact to AZ Re (either due to complexity, strategic relevance, or value)
  • Actively support clients in technical analysis (coverage & legal liability), reserving, and resolution strategy leveraging best practice experience
  • Active contributor to the monitoring of industry circumstances, events, and themes to provide intelligent, consultative feedback on scale and value at risk to internal stakeholders
  • Manage claims of selected portfolios autonomously
  • Experience in project management and on-site reviews
  • Support for Best Practice standards for claims management and CAT scenarios (natural and man-made events)
  • Support in targeting Group Subrogation opportunities and other avenues of recovery or minimizing claims indemnity spend
  • Support for development of portfolio steering tools and scorecards for responsible claims portfolio
Qualifications
  • Law degree or similar professional background (insurance industry accreditation)
  • 5-10 years experience in claims management with a (re)insurance carrier
  • English fluency; good knowledge of German and additional languages are a plus
Experience & Key skills
  • Good knowledge of (re)insurance principles, types of coverage, and programme construction
  • Good knowledge in claims handling strategy including management of external service providers (engineers / adjusters / lawyers) and experience with litigation / mediation / alternative dispute resolution
  • Good (working) understanding of wordings, exclusions and conditions
  • Good understanding of P&C lines of business - Advantage would be additional experience of one specialty LoB (eg Credit and Bond)
  • Good (working) understanding of Microsoft Office (XL, PP etc.)
