To oversee the efficient operation, maintenance, safety, and compliance of all facilities, workshops and equipments in the Training Centre. The role ensures that all welding training and testing environments meet industry standards, safety regulations, and accreditation requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Facility Operations & Maintenance
Manage day-to-day operations of all training centre facilities, including classrooms, NDT labs (RT, UT, MT, PT, ET, VT, etc.), workshops, and offices
Oversee maintenance and calibration schedules for welding equipment and instruments
Ensure uninterrupted operation of utilities (electricity, compressed air, ventilation, lighting, etc.) essential for NDT training and testing
Coordinate with internal maintenance teams and external service providers for facility upkeep
2. Welding Equipment & workshop Management
Maintain an inventory of welding instruments, consumables, and calibration records
Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of welding equipment's (e.g., electrodes, welding machines, metals, other machineries)
Schedule and supervise periodic inspection and calibration of equipment as per manufacturer and accreditation standards (ISO, AWS, ASMI, etc.)
Support trainers and trainees in setup and safe use of welding equipment during training sessions
3. Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance
Implement and monitor strict safety protocols related to welding processes
Ensure compliance with local radiation safety regulations and coordination with the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits for all welding workshop
Maintain proper ventilation, protective gear, and emergency equipment (e.g. first aid, spill kits)
Promote a culture of safety awareness among staff and trainees
4. Facility Planning & Infrastructure Development
Plan and oversee facility layout, renovation, or expansion projects to meet training and accreditation standards
Ensure optimal space utilization for classrooms, labs, and trainee amenities
Recommend infrastructure improvements and technological upgrades to management
5. Budgeting & Procurement
Prepare and manage facility operational and maintenance budgets
Plan procurement of NDT instruments, consumables, safety gear, and facility materials
Evaluate suppliers, obtain quotations, and ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards
6. Vendor & Contract Management
Supervise external vendors providing facility, maintenance, and calibration services
Maintain vendor contracts and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs)
Review vendor performance periodically and ensure timely renewals or replacements
7. Support to Training & Certification Operations
Coordinate with the Training Manager and Instructors to ensure readiness of training labs and classrooms
Provide logistical support for training programs, workshops, and certification exams
Ensure training aids, models, and demonstration setups are in proper working condition
Assist in meeting accreditation or audit requirements (ASNT, ISO 9712, PCN, etc.) by maintaining documentation and compliance records
8. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain facility maintenance logs, calibration records, safety audits, and compliance reports
Prepare monthly or quarterly reports on facility performance, expenses, and incident summaries
Ensure proper documentation for audits, accreditation, and quality assurance
9. Staff Supervision & Development
Supervise facility support staff including technicians, cleaners, and security personnel
Conduct training and safety orientation for facility personnel
Evaluate staff performance and promote skill development
10. Sustainability & Waste Management
Implement waste disposal procedures for NDT-related materials (e.g., chemicals, films, developer solutions)
Promote energy-efficient practices and environmental sustainability in facility operations
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Especially in Mechanical)
Certification or exposure to NDT Level II/III (ASNT/ISO 9712) preferred
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum of 10 years experience in facility or operations management within an industrial or technical training environment in the position of Manager / Assistant Manager
Knowledge of safety regulations
Well versed in preparation of WPS
Sound Knowledge in welding processes
Willing to travel overseas frequently or whenever required
Willing to work during weekend and holidays and night shifts whenever required (will be compensated with week day off)
* Being MOM approved safety & skills training centre for local and migrant workers, multi / bi lingual in English, Tamil, Bengali is essential to liaise efficiently
