An exciting Finance Manager (one-year contract) job has just become available at one of the most respected financial institutions based in Singapore. You would report directly to the Asia-Pacific Regional Finance Manager (based in Melbourne) for guidance and approvals as required.

About the Finance Manager Role:
In this business critical role, you will be responsible for providing management and supervision of the branch finance function, through a team of accountants and/or accounting associates. This position supports the Asia-Pacific Regional Finance Manager in representing the interests of the organisation with external stakeholders including regulators, tax authorities and auditors. This position is responsible for the financial affairs of multiple business units in multiple countries, supporting the strategic and financial objectives of the operations\' as well as ensuring compliance with a complex range of local, tax and accounting requirements. The Asia entities / countries that the incumbent will be covering includes Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines and Thailand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective management, supervision and approvals, ensuring financial and tax accounting and reporting activities are performed in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner. These activities include:
  • Journals and Reconciliations
  • Corporate Reporting
  • Tax Returns and Payments (in coordination with the corporate tax function)
  • Provide effective management, supervision and approvals, ensuring management reporting and analysis activities are performed in an accurate, timely and insightful manner. These activities include:
  • Support of corporate budget process
  • Operations Dashboard Reporting
  • Country/industry statistics/analysis
  • Other analytical reporting
  • Be a key contributor and active member of the Operations\' risk management committees
  • Promote the development of, and adherence to, effective internal controls, policies and procedures that protect and preserve the assets of the organisation
  • Establish and maintain an effective framework for regulatory solvency and capital management. This framework includes:
  • Linkages with risk capacity and risk appetite
  • Target capital adequacy ratios
  • Stress testing and scenario analysis
  • Regulatory (ICAAP/ORSA) reporting
  • Provide effective management, supervision, and approvals, ensuring financial services are performed in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner. These services include:
  • Travel and Expenses (including ChromeRiver, Amex)
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Deliver key initiatives in the branch finance team that support strategic and financial objectives of the organisation
  • Support corporate projects, including as directed from the head office finance function
  • Conduct confident and effective presentations and communications to external and internal stakeholders
  • Provide management and supervision of the Singapore-based finance team
To succeed in this Finance Manager role, you will need to have management experience and experience within the insurance industry.

Key Requirements:
  • Insurance industry background is mandatory
  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting with professional designation/certification (CPA or CA) is preferred
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in finance and/or audit role, with at least three years of experience in a management role. Insurance industry experience is preferred
