Job Description


DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to oversee finance and office operations for our office in Singapore.

Reporting into the local Cluster Head, with dotted line into the Head of International / International Development Director and group finance function, you will manage all aspects of the Singapore finance function to ensure all local statutory, taxation and regulatory compliance requirements are met. You will also act as a trusted business advisor to the business, working closely with the partners to drive profitable growth in the region, ensure budgets are achieved and where applicable actions plans are in place to address any variances.

Role Responsibility

Business Partnering

  • Responsible for preparation of annual budget, work closely with the local business and central finance team
  • Review results on a monthly basis, and work with Group Finance team to explain any variances and identify and implement remedial action
  • Support the Partners with tenders and other financial modelling
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as and when required
Financial control and reporting
  • Prepare statutory financial year-end accounts for DACB Singapore entity
  • Reconcile local and group accounts, ensuring all differences are known and understood
  • Work with local tax advisors and central tax team to prepare local tax returns and ensure these are submitted on time
  • Comply with local regulatory requirements and file any necessary paperwork on time
  • Document and share with Group Finance all local regulatory requirements and necessary filings
  • Manage cashflow to ensure there are sufficient funds available to make payments
  • Prepare general ledger accounting journals (payroll, prepayments, accruals, provisions and adjustments)
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet control account reconciliations
  • Support Group Finance to run the central Cost Allocation Model on an annual basis to comply with transfer pricing regulations in the region.
Finance operations
  • Ensure personal ability to perform all key finance tasks, and work with UK Finance Operations Team to ensure that:
  • all matters and rates are set up accurately and deal with any general queries on matters.
  • all payments, disbursements and invoices are logged accurately and timely.
  • all bills are raised promptly and conduct regular reviews of unbilled time
  • Work with the UK Finance Operations team to ensure billing queries are resolved
  • Update hours and billing targets in the system as and when required
  • Liaise with UK Finance Operations team to ensure cash is collected and allocated promptly
  • Control and monitor the work in progress (WIP) generated by the office/cluster/region, to ensure accurate time recording and the fulfilment of the individual and collective revenue and billing targets
Stakeholder management
  • Manage relationships with local banks
  • Manage the statutory year-end audit and/or other audits that may take place
Tasks to be performed by UK Finance Operations Team
  • Set-up matters and rates on the systems
  • Raise and amend bills / credit notes and deal with billing queries
  • Raise payments, disbursements, expense claims and purchase invoices
  • Post cash and allocate to bills
  • Set up and process bank payments
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
Office Management

Reporting into the Singapore Cluster Head, with a dotted line into the Head of International / International Development Director, responsible for supervision and management of all aspects of property and facilities management to ensure that all local requirements are met, with support from local secretarial / administrator support.

Property - Singapore
  • Responsible for compliance with all lease obligations and timely payment of all liabilities, health & safety and other regulatory requirements in relation to the Singapore office
Facilities Management
  • Supervision of local administrative support to supervise / oversee:
  • provision of all services to our offices (including cleaning, archiving & destruction, security) with support from UK Procurement and PG&R teams
  • all planned preventative maintenance (including contracts) to all plant and machinery
  • all local IT, and management of day-to-day IT issues
  • local business continuity plans, liaising with UK PG&R and IT teams
HR & People
  • Supervising local administrative support, and working with UK HR and the local Cluster Head:
  • ensure the local entity maintains compliance with all local employment regulations
  • ensure an appropriate set of policies and procedures are in place to manage local HR requirements / issues
  • support implementation of relevant DACB Group HR initiatives (e.g. Flex Forward)
The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven experience of finance management within the Singapore market
  • Finance experience gained in a law firm or professional services environment would be an advantage
  • A self-starter with a hands-on approach and the ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Strong finance and analytical skills, including experience of providing monthly management accounts and value adding commentary
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting discussions with senior business managers
  • Experience of working with and manipulating large amounts of data and preparing summaries for wider use
  • Strong and confident communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to interact with senior members of the business and build strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Organised and able to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to convey complex financial and accounting concepts in a clear and straightforward manner
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the business and challenge where appropriate
