Job Description


Reporting to the University Librarian, this position is responsible for providing services pertaining to the research lifecycle. The successful candidate will also be actively involved in the curation of university developed content, predominantly but not limited to micro-learning content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the institutional research output (including data) repository.
  • Develop training and educational opportunities on scholarly publishing, open access, research impact, and research data related topics.
  • Build awareness and demand for scholarly communication and data management services.
  • Identify and collaborate with appropriate campus partners on programs and policies to support open access and open educational resources.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on sharing/disseminating SIT knowledge outputs, including research outputs.
  • Manage micro-modules, including curation and licensing of subscribed or open education resources.
  • Engage faculty and instructors to integrate copyright, open licensing and related topics into the curriculum.
  • Assists faculty and instructors with teaching content adoption, implementation and sharing of educational resources.
  • Create innovative and sustainable programming to encourage adoption of open educational resources and sharing of learning objects.
  • Conduct information and digital literacy programmes for SIT programmes.
  • Communicate and promote Library resources and services to the SIT community, including roster to provide front-end user services.
  • Participate in Library projects and events.
Job Requirements
  • A recognised postgraduate professional qualification in Library/Information Studies; OR postgraduate professional qualification in Education, Educational Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education or Educational Technology.
  • At least 5 - 10 years of professional working experience in an academic library environment, especially working with information literacy programme design and delivery.
  • Understanding of open education, its principles, trends, and its intersection with scholarly communication. Knowledge and experience regarding best practices associated with the adoption, modification, and creation of OER.
  • Experience leading programming and outreach efforts, including workshops, faculty learning communities, etc. focused on open education and its subtopics.
  • Understanding of copyright, open licensing, fair use, author rights, archiving rights, and scholarly communication.
  • Experience of metadata creation and administration of repository system e.g. Figshare.
  • Knowledge of the research lifecycle, processes and issues in the higher education research environment; and the ability to assist with research training, research quality and impact.
  • Experience in providing research support services including the creation of an online presence for research profiles and social media.
  • Knowledge and experience using multidisciplinary research databases.
  • Strong IT and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Resourceful, self-motivated and service oriented.
  • Ability to work as a team with strong organizational and people management skills.
