UWCSEA has a vacancy for November 2022 for a Fixed Asset Accountant.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for College's fixed asset accounting and reporting, which includes timely and accurate capitalisation of assets, change of asset useful life and disposal of fixed assets. You will be in charge of month-end closing and reporting schedules such as capital expenditure (CAPEX) accruals and depreciation variance analysis. This role involves working with various stakeholders (CAPEX Requestors, Procurement, Accounts Payable and Financial and Reporting Team) for the full end to end fixed asset process.
Besides participating in the annual CAPEX budgeting exercise, you will also perform quarterly and yearly depreciation forecasts. On an annual basis, you will lead the year-end stocktake exercise and be involved in the preparation of fixed asset schedules for statutory reporting. You will also liaise with internal and external auditors with regard to fixed asset accounting and tracking. In addition, you will be involved in automation and process improvements in the area of fixed asset accounting and reporting.
Main Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include but not limited to:
Fixed Assets Accounting:
Be a super user of the new Fixed Asset Module that is planned to be implemented and roll out.
Support the Project Lead as part of the fixed asset implementation team to ensure requirements of fixed assets accounting are tailored and catered for.
Support the Project Lead to roll out the implementation of fixed asset tagging solution as part of the Fixed Asset Module that are roll out and in close collaboration with Facilities Team and other necessary stakeholders identified
Review and first operational approval of CAPEX requests (Via CRM) to ensure that it is properly accounted for and within Budget.
Provide preliminary advice and guidance to departments on fixed assets policies and procedures
Preparation of fixed assets year-end and audit schedules
Review and ensure the depreciation postings are complete and reconciled with fixed assets register.
Ensure fixed assets transferred from development projects are correctly capitalized in fixed asset records and perform quarterly reconciliation.
Validate accuracy of fixed assets statistics and information required for internal/external reporting and for insurance purpose
Find out fixed assets' obsolescence potential
Conduct reviews and data analytics to enhance controls over fixed assets
Conduct fixed assets training for end-users annually
Responsible for fixed asset stock take
Recommend fixed assets that should be disposed off to management
Track College's fixed asset spending in relation to its CAPEX budget, as well as management authorizations by working closely with the Budget Holders and Finance Team
Participate in the annual CAPEX budgeting exercise by working closely with the FP&A and Budget Holders (Academic/Facilities/IT etc).
