The Role The Food Products Development Manager is responsible for achieving sales revenue, gross margin, and volume goals. This role will be in charge of managing the profitability of private label and branded business. Developing pricing strategies for various Own Brand product lines, partnering with R&D to drive product development, actively managing the base business, supporting commercialization teams through launch cycles, identifying and solving various leak points in the P&L. Be responsible for leading strategic and consumer driven projects in support of the Business initiatives. Keeping abreast of emerging markets trends and technology advancement, selection of new ingredients and product design. Develop and execute pricing strategies to increase business profitability. Full control of product licensing arrangement. This includes optimizing product line up, line extension creation, SKU rationalization, pricing strategy execution, trade program development, slotting budget creation, and overall increasing the profitability of the brands. Design and execute all stages of consumer centric product development- benchtop prototypes, customer testing, conducting pilot plant trials and formula commissioning at full-scale manufacturing. Analyze existing company and competitor products, ingredients and processes and where necessary, revise to ensure superiority of existing company products. Design & conduct experiments to capitalize on novel ingredients for cost savings and improved performance, troubleshoot existing formulas to optimize production performance. Create, review and document raw ingredients specification and final product specifications to consistently deliver quality products. Review HACCP plans for national brand products. Identify and use consumer and Franchise insights to identify high potential items. Use those insights to market and drive adoption of new menu items. Works closely with vendors, quality and supply chain partners to identify opportunities and bring product concepts to life. Cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers and employ negotiation tactics to optimize terms. Manage new items from concept through launch to include new item setup, forecasting, marketing, promotional support, etc. Build a process to create sustainable sales for our stores and consistent growth out of our partner facilities. This will include launching items in categories not traditionally supported by our partners- i.e.. Hot food items from new strategic suppliers. It will also include a consistent process for product quality renewals and new platform growth. About You A Bachelor degree or higher in Food Science, Food Engineering, or other food related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in food and beverage innovation/product development, bench-top to full scale commercialization and process improvement or development, and innovation-related activities. Understanding of food and beverage trends/consumers, gather ideas from other places, and deliver innovation strategies based on the given information. Knowledge of food and beverage technology, ingredient functionalities, chemistry, or engineering including processing and manufacturing. Knowledge of development and scale-up of food and beverage products. Knowledge of food quality control, safety, and microbiology. Knowledge of sensory, experimental design, statistics, and consumer research methodology. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong problem solving and communication and negotiation skills. Proven track record of achieving sales, continuous improvement and savings and successful implementation or launch of new products. Strong project management and influencing skills. Knowledge in food safety and quality hygiene systems e.g. HACCP, GMP, Food safety management systems e.g. ISO 22000, AIB, FSMS 22000, etc. Self motivated, be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
