Job Description


Role: The Purpose The purpose of this role is to procure door to door Freight (both sea, hybrid and air) services from our Suppliers to our Distribution Centers globally, as well as bulk shipments from our Distribution Centers to our customers. The role is focused on executing aligned processes and bringing solutions to increase the efficiency and engagement of all stakeholders involved whilst delivering great services to CARIUMA customers - both DTC and Wholesale. The expectation is for the person to act upon daily needs with fast response and low carbon/cost impact, doing things the right way, whilst building and nurturing strong relationships with our partners. The person in this role will be the main point of contact for our Sourcing team on shipment schedule and also Freight Forwarders, taking care of the end to end process, from departure at the supplier to shipping and customs clearance. Keeping a very close look at our operating metrics and ensuring our partner has the necessary information to operate our business at the highest standards. The person will help establish this function, as we grow our logistics network to build a strong relationship and operational base with our partners. This opportunity requires somebody with an energetic and extremely organized mindset, the ability to provide multiple options to move our goods from point A to point B, paired with the desire to execute with high standards. Passion for operations, ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively will also be critical to the success of this role.

The Responsibilities:

  • Be the front-end point of contact responsible for growth, development and performance of our Freight Forwarders.
  • Drive freight procurement in meeting business requirements to gather, review quotations and book shipments
  • Lead freight operations to door, in managing all documentation and exception handling pertaining to freight, customs clearance and last mile.
  • Own HS Code system registration and pre-align with Inventory Management and Finance about expected customs clearance of goods.
  • Work closely with accounts, legal and tax teams, learning and implementing processes on import duties and taxes, leading customs clearance conversations and ensuring that the payments are fairly appropriate based on the HS Codes.
  • Drive operational excellence and monitor performance of our partners, different INCOTERM and lead-times.
  • Keep open communication with the Sourcing team and suppliers around readiness of goods and schedule shipments accordingly, aligned with the delivery window expectations from our product launch roadmap.
  • Constantly revise tracking information of ongoing shipments to ensure both internal and external partners are informed upfront about shipment arrival, and teams can prepare to move goods.
  • Provide ongoing support on Stock In Transit updates to keep track of movement of goods for any channels.
  • Monitor and propose solutions to ensure adherence to agreed service levels, mitigate foreseeable risks and take appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Prioritize with clarity and over communication the support needed from the team in our multi-location arrangement, helping the organization to evolve and protecting the culture of CARIUMA.
  • Design and implement processes together with our Head of Supply Chain to build various freight solutions, with a lead-time reduction mentality while maintaining cost efficiencies.
  • Negotiate, analyze and confirm any cost related initiative, from monthly billings to value added services, aiming for cost efficiency improvement keeping quality standards on the operation;
  • Closely track cost per item and develop tools to monitor and set targets in partnership with our service providers.
  • As the business continues to grow the team will continue to grow, therefore the role and remit of the function will evolve. The candidate will be responsible for solving short-term problems whilst adapting to help build and design the team and process for the future.
Your Story:
  • 2-5 years minimum of relevant experience in logistics and Freight Procurement roles, preferably within footwear/lifestyle fashion goods or being a team member of a Freight Forwarder..
  • An understanding and appreciation for logistics, freight, branded/consumer goods, import and export processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, WMS, IMS, OMS, Shipping Trackers with an eye for analytics and Advanced Excel skills.
  • A track record of success in Freight Procurement.
  • Somebody who thrives with an entrepreneurial mindset, solve problems, help develop and design process whilst taking pride and ownership in daily execution
  • The ability to build and nurture relationships, working across a wide stakeholder group externally whilst pushing for the highest standards.
