The key duties and responsibilities of the role include the following:
Advising on laws, regulations, quasi-legislation, codes and guidelines relating to competition, personal data protection and telecommunications
Engaging with regulators such as IMDA and PDPC
Advising on and drafting contracts relating to SIMBAs business and operations,
Advising on and contributing to consultations issued by regulators from time to time
Advising on corporate communications and press releases
Advising on general corporate secretarial matters
Updating key knowledge management on relevant laws and regulations relating to competition, cyber security and data protection, consumer protection, marketing and telecommunications
Advising on and drafting compliance and regulatory protocols, and collaborating with other teams to build effective and scalable processes relating to legal review, contracting and document retention
Liaising with and managing external legal advisers
Performing other related tasks assigned from time to time
The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:
A minimum of 7 - 10 years of combined relevant experience in a Singapore law firm and inhouse legal team
Highly competent in the knowledge and application of company law, competition law, cyber security, data protection law and other laws and regulations relating to telecommunications, including interconnect/number portability framework and strategies, and critical infrastructure regulations
Experienced in establishing, updating and enhancing data protection framework, protocols and processes
Passionate about telecommunications technology and ability to understand technical frameworks relating to critical infrastructure such as telecommunications
Excellent contracting and project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
Excellent judgment, ability to navigate ambiguity and evolving regulatory spaces, and provide practical, solutions-oriented legal and regulatory, and compliance advice
Possess excellent written English, communication and interpersonal skills
Have excellent legal research and analytical skills and technical skills relating to Microsoft Office and Apps
Uphold excellent work standards with integrity and professionalism, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
