Job Description

:

• The General Manager (Finest) of the Retail Business in FairPrice Group will lead and be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Finest Format Business. He/she will be required to ensure that it meets the financial and operational KPI set for the business while delivering excellent customer service.
• The scope covers managing the P&L and driving the sales and footprint, operational excellence and continuously improving the value proposition of the Finest format.
• Reporting to the Head of Channels (HOC), Finest, Hypermarket and Cheers, the individual will work closely with the HOC in the development of Finest format strategy and growth plans. He/she will be responsible for the implementation of the strategies and initiatives to increase the mindshare and market share of the Finest Format.
• In conjunction with the retail business management team, the individual is required to formulate the budget, revenue forecast and expenses target and ensure expenses control and profit optimisation are in place.
• The individual will work cross-functionally within the Retail business and the bigger FairPrice Group to drive the Finest store format sales. The individual is required to establish close partnership with the procurement, marketing, strategy, visual merchandising, integrated support, human resource and other internal supporting functions to ensure all support is provided to drive the commercial performance of Finest format stores.
• The individual will also work closely with external vendors such as existing and new suppliers and vendors.
• The individual will identify and review market trend analysis to determine and anticipate consumer demands, and competitive threats to drive business growth and stay ahead in the market. The individual is required to evaluate potential opportunities for store expansion, renovation and improvement. He/she is responsible for driving this strategic planning and expansion initiative.
• The individual is required to keep abreast of legal and statutory regulations relating to manpower, safety and food hygiene. He/she is required to ensure all necessary adjustments and documentation are in place.
• The individual will lead a team of group managers, visual merchandisers and the retail store team (including branch managers, retail supervisors and retail assistants). He/she is required to provide strong leadership, guidance and support to the team to ensure efficient store operation.
• The individual will provide management oversight of the overall safety, regulatory and financial compliance status, security, maintenance and working conditions of the Finest format stores.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (preferably business administration, retail management, or other related field) from a recognized university
• More than 15 years of relevant supermarket management and retail operation experience from the Retail/FMCG industry with a proven track record of success.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in leadership or managerial role and demonstrated direct people manager experience and managing store operation
• Ability to exhibit problem solving and strong decision making and ability to handle complex operational challenges.
• Ability to exhibit exceptional organisation and time management to oversee multiple aspects of store operation and task prioritisation.
• Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, cost control and profitability analysis.
• Strong customer-centric mindset and good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Aptitude for identifying operational efficiencies, cost-saving measures and process improvements.
• Strong knowledge of local regulations pertaining to manpower, food safety, and other legal requirements relating to the retail industry.
• Able to manage complexity, and be prepared to get involved with technical issues at a detailed level. Have strong problem solving & decision-making skills and show ability to drive issues to quick resolutions.
• Have solid interpersonal and partnering skills; yet the ability to command authority and influence issue resolution; or build consensus in achieving desired results and objectives.
• Good appreciation of business & financial principles and ability to translate commercial and customer strategies
• Know how to maneuver in a cross-business organization, i.e. how to optimize resources and knowledge, partnering with cross-functional peers and other business groups to deliver results
• Meticulous and strong with numbers. Ability to convert insights from data analysis into diagnostic and solution
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills. Can communicate with people from multiple business units at multiple levels, and can provide strategic/tactical guidance in a collaborative, consultative, and positive manners
• Putting customers first, aligning internal processes towards customers. Good with customer engagement and ability to communicate with customer senior management
• Ability to scan the horizon for the latest concepts and apply them to the local context
• Able to push the boundaries to explore new business models to capture new markets or/and improve market share
