The BRAND PROTECTION DIRECTOR - Asia Pacific (APAC), Johnson & Johnson Group, reports to the Senior Director, Global Brand Protection (GBP), Regions Lead, and is primarily responsible for preventing and mitigating the risk to patient/consumer safety and business value from counterfeiting and illicit trade of Johnson & Johnson products across the APAC region and all J&J segments. The APAC Director works with commercial business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders at the regional level (e.g. Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Global Security, Government Affairs, Commercial) across all segments to communicate brand protection risks, align on business objectives and advise the business on appropriate strategies and countermeasures to increase the safety and security of the supply chain. With the support and direction of the Sr. Director, the APAC Director is responsible for implementation of strategies and tactics across the APAC region and for meeting or exceeding agreed-upon goals and objectives. The APAC Director also works closely with Johnson & Johnson's Global Security team as well as with external agencies and vendors/partners to collect market intelligence, assess threats and vulnerabilities to J&J's supply chain, support investigations and enforcement activities targeting illicit traders, and generally improve J&J's ability to detect, deter and prevent counterfeit and illicit trade. Major responsibilities include: 1.) Key contributor and facilitator in formulating regional cross-sector brand protection risk management strategies and objectives, while ensuring that objectives are aligned with segment/functional/risk strategies. 2.) Collaborating with BP Technology Lead, BP Segment Leads, as well as other Region Directors to assess illicit trade risks for each business segment and region and supporting the development/execution of prioritized risk mitigation/management strategies and plans in alignment with business and supply chain leaders. 3.) Liaising with key functional partners, such as Global Security, Quality, Law Department, and Supply Chain, and managing cross-functional enterprise brand protection programs, such as product security investigations and enforcement (PSI&E) Customs/trademark recordals and training and brand protection audits and risk assessments. 4.) Maintaining and developing enterprise best practices, standards, processes, and technology solutions for brand protection and ensuring agile deployment, consistent execution and compliance across the organization. 5.) Managing a team of 3 or more support staff. Key Responsibilities: Risk assessment - Partners with Brand Protection (BP) Technology team to develop an expert view of the global illicit trade threat environment and associated risks to our businesses and patients/consumers consolidates data for business unit leads Supply chain integrity - Identifies and understands risks and vulnerabilities across J&J's global supply chains and recommends effective mitigations/controls Core capabilities - Works with the wider Brand Protection team as well as the Global Security team to innovate, develop and sustain capabilities to advance and deliver value to our businesses and patients/consumers through effective brand protection risk management. Scale and embed - Drives and enables strategic projects to scale and embed brand protection throughout the enterprise and thereby increase supply chain safety and security and reduce the cost of brand protection Stakeholder engagement - Optimizes collaboration with cross-functional/regional GBP global program teams and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment, visibility/action toward critical issues, resource optimization and project execution External collaboration - Leads, shapes and influences brand protection industry thinking and practice and collaborates with industry partners to sustain knowledge base and benchmark best practices, while continually moving J&J GBP toward best-in-class performance Manager - Plans, assigns and directs work for 3 or more direct reports responsibilities include executing the 5 conversations, appraising performance, developing competencies, and inspiring team members to reach their full potential through effective coaching/mentoring Supports Sr. Director for talent management, performance planning and base business needs Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. Advanced degree in an applicable field of study or certification would be an asset. A minimum of 10 years relevant technical and business experience is required. Management experience at a Sr. Manager or Director level is required. Healthcare and/or consumer/personal care industry experience is preferred. Prior work history in brand protection, Quality/compliance or investigations/ enforcement is preferred. Adept understanding of key relevant business processes, such as financial planning, strategy and business planning, regulatory requirements and supply chain strategies is preferred. Experience in effectively presenting to and working with senior leadership strong facilitation capability with cross-functional groups is required. Strong project management and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. Recognized leader, who is a dynamic, proactive, and decisive person. Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization. Ability to build productive relationships and work and influence effectively across cultures and functions without line authority is required. Ability to work with and effectively influence all levels within the organization is required. Up to 25% overnight international and domestic travel required if based in mainland China up to 50% if based in other AP cities. Brand protection is a relatively new and dynamic discipline with inherent uncertainty because you're working against criminal enterprise. Thus, agility, resourcefulness, inventiveness, and creativity are important traits for finding innovative solutions to a myriad of challenges. Resourcefulness must be applied to gathering of data and intelligence to assess risks. It's also important to establish strong relationships with strategic stakeholders, technology vendors and industry peers to better understand the dynamics of the threat landscape and what's working and what's not for risk mitigation and management.
