Role Purpose

1. Support the development of competitive and consistent pricing proposals for global and regional tenders, for top-tier customers of Express managed by the Global and Regional sales channels, including proactive recommendations to sales owners regarding the pricing strategy.
2. Monitor the performance of global and regional customer pricing - which includes profitability reviews, ship-to-commitment assurance and ongoing pricing recommendations for commercial counterparts.
3. Contribute to the improvement of customer pricing processes to upper levels and support the end-to-end customer onboarding process.
4. Provide advice and expertise to the pricing/ commercial community and global organization.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

1. Development of competitive and consistent pricing for global and regional tenders

  • Clarify service requirements, and customer expectations, and obtain relevant inputs such as shipping profile, customer pricing strategy, target pricing, RFQ response guidelines, etc. to design the price proposals.
  • Support conversations regarding the pricing strategy for each tender involved, providing solid justification of the approach to follow with the sales owners.
  • Analyze profitability and rate levels for existing and potential business and pricing; benchmarking against competition and DHL pricing for other customers of similar industries.
  • Ensure \xe2\x80\x9cdeep dive\xe2\x80\x9d cost analysis to determine customer-specific costs to serve, e.g., special pickup costs, customer implants, dedicated linehaul, B2C service, value-added services, etc.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to the Global Customer Pricing Offer process via MANGO (Management of Global Offers) and prepare consolidated prices in DHL offer formats and customer/RFQ templates where necessary.
  • Ensure consistency of pricing across customers, products, countries, weight breaks; and enforcement of pricing policies.
  • Ensure documentation of final price proposals and communication to relevant stakeholders according to standards.
2. Performance of global and regional customer pricing
  • Perform analysis of bids won/lost, and propose recommendations.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews of rate implementation for, \xe2\x80\x9cship to commit\xe2\x80\x9d, profitability, and overall compliance.
  • Perform \xe2\x80\x9cdeep dive\xe2\x80\x9d profitability analysis.
  • Identify issues and recommend improvements.
  • Support the implementation of GPIs and introduction of new surcharges for global customers.
  • Preparation of relevant reports/scorecards.
3. Improvements to the customer pricing processes
  • Adherence to systems and tools, procedures, and databases to optimize the tasks of rate setting, profitability analysis, benchmarking, and price simulation.
  • Development and delivery of training on the customer pricing process, tools, and techniques.
  • Propose improvements to increase efficiency and quality of customer pricing processes, and support respective implementations.
  • Lead complex costing analysis of global customers and ensure databases are maintained with the costing factors that are to be used in customer-specific pricing.
4. Provide advice and expertise to the pricing/ commercial community and global organization
  • Act as a global/regional contact for customer pricing and a pricing consultant to Global and Regional customer management teams.
  • Support country pricing managers on large country bids; especially for >\xe2\x82\xac1M and multi-country and multi-region opportunities.
  • Provide input to the regional Tender Review Boards as required.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives.
Do you have what it takes?
  • University degree with strong analytical background (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Economics).
  • At least 2 years of DHL Express experience in commercial, finance, or pricing divisions, and/or prior pricing or analytical experience recommended.
  • 3-4 years experience in an analytical, financial, or commercial function (ideally, in a Costing or Pricing function in a country, cluster, or region is preferred).
  • Outstanding analytical skills with a strong business perspective.
  • Communicating clearly with the ability to advise and influence people without having direct reporting lines.
  • Company industry knowledge, General knowledge of DHL processes, products, and systems landscape.
  • Ability to work independently and results-oriented; ability to manage deadlines and under pressure, as well as make decisions on pricing proposals.
