Chevron is accepting online applications for the Global Tax Engine Support Tax Analyst role. This position is in the Finance Shared Services - Excise Tax Dept. This role maintains the automated indirect tax determination system which contributes to the accurate reporting and payment of sales and use tax in the US as well as VAT/GST internationally.Analyst will be a key member of the Global Tax Engine Project (GTE). Tax Engine Support:

  • Monitors GTE support email inbox and responds to inquiries on a rotational basis.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex transactional issues relating to indirect taxes in all aspects of the procure-to-pay process in SMART by GEP and ERP (SAP/JDE) by working closely with Finance, Procurement, Operations Management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to eProcurement, Accounts Payable invoice processors (BU based and/or Shared Services Centers), Purchase Order/Service Order/WBS project creators and invoice approvers on invoice data elements impacting tax determination.
  • Performs regular audit of the tax engine’s configuration in conjunction with the version releases from provider to ensure that tax results remain accurate.
  • Designs, initiates, and documents configuration changes to the tax engine to accommodate changing indirect tax regulations, business requirements, and/or other issues.
  • Works to continuously automate, improve and streamline processes, while reducing tax fallouts/audit exceptions and managing potential tax exposures.
  • Participates in ad-hoc activities (e.g., internal/external tax audits, etc.), as needed.
  • Collaborates with BU Tax team to regularly facilitate training / knowledge sharing sessions for invoice processors, invoice approvers, etc.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, with a variety of internal and external audiences

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities to maintain the integrity of the system
  • Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and/or work requirements
  • Ability to handle high volume of work while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with and cooperate with customers in multiple operating locations including business unit finance, eProcurement, Shared Services Centers, and suppliers.
  • Indirect or other tax/accounting (AR, AP, Procurement) experience
  • Experience working with SAP or JDE
  • Experience with Ariba, SMART by GEP or similar eProcurement system
  • Project team and Scrum/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience
