Strategy & Roadmap

  • Assess, update and execute the global trade compliance strategy for one of the world’s leading wafer production equipment suppliers
  • Enhance the Technology Control Plan that is in place to elevate it to the next level.
  • Work closely with the developers engineers to classify the newly developed technology and software from export control, determine the applicable export control jurisdiction(s), put the controls and firewalls in place to prevent unauthorized release of controlled technology/software source code.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the global strategy for Sanction & Export Controls; co-develop supporting policies and procedures
  • Track and monitor the U.S., European Union, Singapore and other international trade compliance regulations updates and changes relevant to ASM;
  • Support in investigations, audits and risk- assessments of export control, sanctions and program functions, root cause analysis on deficiencies, and the development and management of resulting corrective action plans and appropriate policies and procedures
  • Develop scenario modeling platforms to monitor and quantify the impact of changes made in trade regulations, trade policies and customs laws\

Cooperate and Collaborate:
  • Advise internal stakeholders on export control topics related to intangible exports and technology transfers; Guide both internal and external stakeholders on issues of export control operations including ECCN classification and controls to ensure compliance
  • Work cooperatively and proactively with functional leaders to ensure compliance with all relevant export, customs, sanctions, laws and regulations
  • Establish a strong relationship with the ASM employees to ensure cooperation and assistance in the successful implantation of export control related projects
  • Develop and educate internal clients on trade compliance best practices.

Policy adherence and compliance management:
  • Maintain and improve internal compliance plans globally
  • Execute and monitor the export controls necessary to ensure compliance
  • Ensure the prioritization of business-critical trade compliance infrastructure and resources as part of the broader program requirements (e.g. screening, training programs, audits, internal risk assessments, variations and classifications)
  • Perform periodic risk assessments including reviews of the impact of new regulations
  • Participate in reviews of export control related incidents
  • Implementation of policies and procedures to safeguard compliance with ASM’s Global Sanctions & Export Control Strategy
  • Oversee the application of export control, trade compliance regulatory actions on complex business operations to ensure compliance
  • Provide advice on export control risks and controls/measures. If required work closely with external advisors
  • Ensure optimal effectiveness of the company’s GTS system

Education and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor or master’s degree or equivalent experience in trade compliance or export controls.
  • Minimum 7 years of trade compliance experience working in multinational exporting corporations or organizations (including experience building and leading a global team)
  • Subject matter expertise of US Export Administration Regulation (“EAR”) is a must have. The candidate must have an in-depth and advanced knowledge of the EAR.
  • Experience with technology and software ECCN classification is a must
  • Result-driven, impeccable time management skills, able to demonstrate hands-on ownership and accountability
  • Influential, collaborative communication skills with the ability to motivate and drive others in different functional areas
  • Strong analytical skills, able to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements as well as clear processes and actions
  • Exceptional standards of integrity and ethic, which act as the basis for strong stakeholder relationships
  • Able to balance a curious and strategic mindset for influencing change on trade and export controls
