Group Tax Director
Responsibilities :

  • To manage the full spectrum of tax operations of the Group and provide detailed advice to Board, Audit & Risk Committee, Senior Group Management, Divisional & Regional Leads on all relevant material tax matters
  • Develop, implement and maintain tax policies and procedures including the Group Tax Risk Management and Transfer Pricing policies
  • Drive worldwide tax planning and compliance
  • Provide support for M&A and divestments in the Group, including performing or reviewing Due Diligence
  • To ensure the group of SJ companies and branches within the Divisions comply with all applicable tax legislation through actively monitoring the tax compliance obligations to mitigate risk of late lodgement
  • Provide guidance and support to the Divisional/Regional/Country Finance teams on all tax related matters as required
  • Manage and develop a regional team of in-house tax professionals
  • Provide assistance with group tax accounting (periodic and annual) and tax expense inputs in the Budgeting and Forecasting process
  • Manage and reduce the Group’s Effective Tax Rate
  • Ensure the Tax Teams are adequately resourced in terms of skills and headcount
  • Take a leadership role across Group Finance, Treasury and Tax teams.
  • Lead Tax inputs into NEXTgen ERP systems for the Group
  • Other ad hoc activities as required

Requirements :
  • Recognised degree in Accountancy/ Tax
  • Preferably CA/CPA with at least 15 years tax experience, gained in a corporate or International Accounting firm, in a corporate tax specific function
  • Very strong tax analysis skills
  • Strong tax effect accounting skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Experience working with complex corporate/international tax issues including interpretation of tax treaties
  • A ‘hands-on’ individual with a high level of initiative and professionalism
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with management and colleagues
  • Experience working in large local corporate environment
