Hardware Engineer Manager
Key Responsibilities: Lead team of engineers in Electrical & Electronics Design in New Product Development and in Sustenance Engineering for existing production products. Build technical competencies and maintain compliance in Engineering systems, processes and procedures for all design related activities to ensure the design teams stay competitive in creating excellent design quality, having the right speed in development execution and are lean, efficient and productive. Sound understanding of competitive benchmarking data on how the current company products compare to competitors in functions, features, performance, cost, and inter-connectivity. Mentor engineers in effort estimations and be a strong influence in their design decisions to achieve good competitive products. Collaborate with Business and Product Management teams in product and technology road-mapping, estimating future resource capacity needs and competencies, and identifying what new technologies would be required to be attained. Monitor quarterly performances and lead improvement efforts in design capabilities and processes whenever the need arises. Plan and manage own Section’s annual budget and spend.
Pre-requisites: Comprehensive knowledge on New Product Development processes and what Sustenance Engineering activities are about. Motivated in the ability to contribute in product design through others than by own self effort. Motivates, coaches and mentors his/her team for successes. Track-record on developing self and others to become more capable overtime. Identify opportunities for improvements; see improvements as a way to become world class. Keeping abreast with technologies. Strong analytical skills. Able to think out of the box’. Not dependent on defined processes. Knows what and how to move forward in the absence of a defined process. Able to translate a good approach into a documented process for others to follow whenever needed.
Requirements
10 years relevant design experience in New Product Development and in Sustenance Engineering. 3 years relevant managerial experience in managing design engineers in New Product Development and in Sustenance Engineering. Excellent in communication, presentations, and persuasions. Ability to Build and maintaining a strong and motivated team. Ability to collaborate and to work effectively with different levels of staff across Functional and Business organizations. Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
