The Role Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a talented, experienced Head of API and Open Banking Platforms to lead a strong team across 3 locations that will architect, design, implement, and maintain Enterprise Tech API Ecosystem. This position requires interaction with internal and external teams and stakeholders.
  • The candidate should have previous senior technical leadership experience; experience working on highly available, scalable, redundant, transaction-based API Platforms; experience in the development of native API platforms; and a passion for technology and follow industry best practice
  • In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across the CIO verticals to ensure that projects are within scope and tracking to be delivered on time. In short, you will be one of the keys go-to- people for the API Ecosystem and will play an integral part in helping StanChart drive API Economy.
  • This position will report to Managing Director (ET \xe2\x80\x93 IS & NS) and is based in Singapore.
Strategy
Responsible
  • Architect, deliver and maintain API ecosystem strategy to make the Bank fit for purpose and fit for growth towards our Digital adoption and API and Cloud first strategy.
  • Drive synergy on API ecosystem through engineering and self-service API platforms adoption across T&I.
  • Lead enterprise API Management, Open Banking platform for SC.
  • Lead API Marketplace for the Bank where in-house APIs and curated APIs can co-exist to offer a holistic business solution for clients.
  • Drive Cloud API Journey and manage the seamless transition from on-prem to cloud for Standard Chartered Bank\xe2\x80\x99s APIs.
  • Drive engineering and state of the art automation for central API Platform offering.
  • Drive stability & resilience for Internal, External, Outbound API ecosystem offering across the Bank.

  • Accountable to consolidate API ecosystem across various business & tech streams in T&I and countries.
  • Streamline API gateway products currently deployed and drive unified approach for ecosystem offering.
  • Deliver Fully functional Marketplace, Internal Developer Portal for SC Client & Partners.
  • Enterprise Technology owned API Internal & External Audits are maintained clean and green.
  • Central API catalogue and discovery tool building for Internal & External offering.
  • Build specialised API Engineering teams across GBS locations.
  • Deliver Service Virtualization (Sandbox Offering) for SC developers, Clients & Partners.

  • Be an advisor for any of the external partner onboarding or third-party API integrations.
  • Guide CIO teams to come up with consistent approach for API Metrics and Analytics.
  • Be an advisor for API partnerships on solution architecture and API security management.
  • API Risk Framework on Partnerships & Governance from T&I perspective.
  • Be an active contributor for API SRE pipeline on production estate management.

  • New API partnerships or Third-Party Onboarding.

  • Operations efficiency from Risk & process perspective are constantly measured.
  • Periodic validation of API Process governance for critical areas are managed.

  • Any new process improvements and amendments to existing process.
  • Constantly identify new areas of improvements and advise to the respective process owners.
  • Change and Release Management process are on par with industry standard.

  • New Process implementation time frame and updated documentation.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 12 plus years of relevant Banking experience
  • SOA, REST & GraphQL API design and development.
  • Architecture of full stack systems at scale.
  • Managed the design, development and operation of one or more external clients API Ecosystem.
  • Leading Development and QA teams in an Agile Development process, producing and managing Agile artefacts and usage of Atlassian Agile tooling.
  • Deep Understanding on CI/CD pipeline with full rollback capabilities.
  • Experience implementing and operating a reverse proxy layer to offload network traffic from the application layer.
  • Implemented On-prem & Cloud API Ecosystem Deployments.
  • Implemented at least Two API Gateway [KONG / WSO2 / NGINX+ / 3SCALE].
  • Implemented at least Two IAM applications [WSO2 / ForgeRock / Okta / Pink].
  • Implemented at least One Container Orchestration [K8\xe2\x80\x99s, OpenShift/Podman/EKS/AKS].
