DESIGNATION : Head, Architecture and Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Architecture and Engineering reports to the Chief Infrastructure and Security Officer and has a responsibility to drive the technology roadmap creation and execution across the various portfolios within FairPrice Group Business Units (BU) and Social Enterprises (SEs). The role has a management responsibility to coach, drive and manage internal and external resources to produce the roadmap and is also personally contributing to the creation of the roadmap as well as providing technology thought leadership addressing complex project issues by facilitating alignment across disparate teams. Technology roadmap should be aligned with business needs, reflects best practices and increases option value for the organization including maintaining enterprise architecture models and associated design components. The position is required to interpret, use and apply his/her knowledge and expertise in IT architecture to inform a range of technology-driven business improvement activities and ensure that the overall IT architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its reliability, availability and security captured in the Architecture Decision Records.

  • Define Enterprise Architecture strategies, principles, vision, standards, tools and methodologies.
  • Develop/enhance and lead execution of the technology roadmap for the organization aligning it with strategic business goals covering all critical enterprise applications and technologies.
  • Identify and consolidate legacy applications and systems and map out a well-defined technology refresh and migration strategy
  • Provide leadership and guidance on all aspects of technology during an implementation project including, but not limited to, requirements analysis and design, product selection, vendor selection, component selection, configuration, development, conversions, system testing, cut over work closely with Integrated Operations team for production support.
  • Collaborate with a wider Products community in sharing best practices and reference architectures.
  • Constantly updates the technical system architecture based on evolving technologies and products.
  • Understand and lead future Technology infrastructure needs, working with IT Infrastructure architects (in-house, partners and vendors) and engineers to develop an approach that fits the current and planned needs of the organization.
  • Work closely with the Chief Data Officer with regards to data architecture and data management lifecycle management
  • Responsible for costs optimization strategy to drive strategic spending and cost reduction, while maximizing business value
  • Owns the IT Disaster Recovery strategy and implementation plan


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in enterprise architecture (including advanced knowledge of development methodologies, simplifying and standardizing the IT landscape, with at least 3 years in a leadership role)
  • Experience in leadership role in an organization, preferably in the retail industry, with proven ability to consult and influence decisions through sound judgement and data analysis to effectively drive positive business outcomes and resolve complex issues
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to express technical concepts clearly and concisely to senior management and stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, leveraging talent across the region
  • Experience in designing the major aspects of the architecture of an application, including components such as user interface, middleware, database and infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of Cloud implementation approaches and associated complexities (SaaS, Public Cloud, Private Cloud solutions)
  • Able to ramp-up quickly. Takes initiative and is a self starter
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Can zoom from big picture to detail, creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making
  • Mentoring/coaching skills
  • Experience with project management, strategic planning and execution in various hosting environments ranging from on-premises, private cloud and public cloud technologies
  • Exposure to building web-enabled and mobile applications
  • Knowledgeable in Enterprise Architecture skills framework such as TOGAF


OTHER INFORMATION
  • Sufficient knowledge of Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
