About this job:

Based in Singapore, this position as HEAD OF ADMINISTRATION AND ACCOUNTING – LIFE & HEALTH, APAC is part of the Global Life Operations and Administration Team. The position you will be reporting to the Global Head of Operations and Administration (based in Zurich) and to the COO APAC locally

About the team:

Team of 5 people.

Key skills:

The Life Operations and Administration team’s Team’s objectives include the registration of contract details in our system, the booking and settling of accounts received from our clients, and the assurance of the quality of the data we receive from clients through the bordereaux. All information registered is used downstream by other teams functions for various financial and actuarial studies and reporting. In more detail, your responsibilities will be to:
  • Lead and manage an Asia-based team to ensure the accurate and timely execution of various assigned tasks
  • Represent APAC in working with Group officethe Global Operations and Admin team on the optimization of administration / accounting processes, evaluation of risks and strengthening of key controls
  • Work with the Global Operations and Admin team and IT to enhance our data governance capabilities and support the build out of data solutions
  • Be the owner of data supporting reserving, reporting and experience analysis
  • Ensure the proper execution of technical account bookings and data quality verification in accordance with internal processes and procedures (including Sarbanes Oxley controls); ensure that business is recorded according to best appropriate accounting practices for the Best Estimates calculations
  • Ensure that the registration/updating of treaties in our system complies with contractual conditions
  • Produce regular reports reporting and provide feedback for to Management such ason backlog and issues tracking, aged balances, processing timeliness reports, and ensure work with different stakeholders to that issues are escalated and resolve issues to the appropriate managers and teams on a timely basis
  • Ensure that all client-related administration and accounting issues are addressed quickly and effectively
  • Provide guidance to the team on the handling and administration of complex treaties
  • Participate in the quarterly closing process as necessary with the Finance and Actuarial teams
  • Ensure that the data received from our clients is complete, accurate, consistent, and provided within the contractual deadlines


About you:

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • University degree in accounting or another relevant area
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial industryservices industry, re/insurance experience is a plus
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) is essential, knowledge of Mandarin or Japanese or Korean is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and some previous experience in managing a team
  • Well-developedExcellent communication skills: ability to communicate with clients, peers and management
  • Ability to propose solutions and view issues and tasks in a bigger global context while also understanding the details if necessary

  • Ability to work in a diverse worldwide organization with teams from multiple locations
  • Ability to counsel and develop team members
