Summary of Role

Are you an experienced compliance professional with a proven track record in navigating regulatory requirements while facilitating business growth? As our Head of Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our fintech organization operates within the bounds of regulatory compliance. Your role will require assertiveness, independence, pragmatism, and a data-driven approach to strike the right balance between business needs and regulatory requirements.
As the Head of Compliance, what will you be doing?

  • Act as designated Compliance Officer for the purposes of Sleek\xe2\x80\x99s Major Payment Institution licence, and do all things necessary for the undertaking of the role.
  • Monitor Sleek\xe2\x80\x99s new services and product launches to ensure compliance with existing legal and regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the compliance function, guiding the executive team on regulatory matters.
  • Stay abreast of financial regulations and industry-specific requirements, ensuring that our operations comply with all applicable laws.
  • Balance the organization\'s business objectives with regulatory obligations, finding pragmatic solutions to compliance challenges.
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform compliance strategies and decisions, implementing proactive compliance measures.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks, taking necessary actions to address potential issues.
  • Lead and mentor the compliance team of about 10 officers, fostering a culture of excellence and independence.
  • Manage relationships with regulators, ensuring transparency and cooperation when required.
  • Oversee compliance audits and assessments, addressing findings and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting, both internally and externally.
  • Develop compliance training programs and initiatives for staff to enhance regulatory awareness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Defend compliance decisions confidently and independently, advocating for the organization\'s compliance posture.
Requirements

We would love to get to know you if you have the following:
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a compliance role, with a total of around 10 years of professional experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements, with a strong understanding of the fintech and/or banking industry.
  • Proficiency in using data and analytics to inform compliance strategies and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with the ability to inspire and lead a compliance team.
  • An assertive and independent mindset, with the ability to defend compliance decisions effectively.
  • A pragmatic and business-oriented approach to compliance, able to balance business needs with regulatory requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to evolving compliance challenges.
  • Positive attitude, consultative approach and self motivation are all essential.
  • Strong personal and social skills, with a high sense of urgency.
