This role is responsible for leading the data governance and contribute effectively to the objectives of Asia Data Council, data architecture, data extraction and modelling and be the subject matter expert for our data warehouse and centralised business intelligence team focussed on driving effective visualisation/dashboarding that supports decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic analytics leader/spoke head for multiple Operations leading the data governance and contribute effectively to the objectives of Asia Data Council
  • Lead the data architecture, data extraction and modelling and be the subject matter expert for our data warehouse
  • Oversee and manage the centralised business intelligence team focused on driving effective visualisation/dashboarding that supports decision making and activities including prioritization, development, and delivery of analytic solutions
  • Provide strategic guidance and decision making, enable data and analytic capability integration in Operations and Transformation programs across the divisions, identify and execute on opportunities with significant impact
  • Lead the development and implementation of group-wide frameworks, metrics and standards for reporting, dashboards and analytics to ensure consistency and scalability in partnership with the Group Operations leadership
  • Collaborate with Divisional data and analytics leaders to drive the creation and re-use of common analytic solutions
  • Plan, allocate and manage financial budget by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibilities
  • Enforce good governance, processes and procedures in support of the overall operating model
  • Establish and maintain data standards and group-level governance processes for Transformation initiatives; ensure compliance across Divisions through collaboration and coordination with other Data & Analytics Heads
  • Drive data-enabled actionable strategies that improve business performance across sales and marketing, distribution/producer management, underwriting, product, operations, customer retention and x-sell, people and vendor management.
  • Advise partners on the interpretation of analytic insights and how to best leverage Data & Analytic findings in business decision making, providing input into planning and management decisions
  • Partner with IT, Transformation/Change Management, Finance, Actuarial, Risk and HR to ensure deployment and cross-leveraging of the data and analytic solutions and strategies
  • Guide analytic framework and opportunity identification for strategic analytic initiatives
  • Design, develop, and deploy data and analytic solutions, including a wide range of dashboards, descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and optimization methods
  • Drive a performance management culture by mobilizing and developing individuals at all levels, encouraging cross-team collaboration and leading department to achieve positive results for the organization
  • Foster a positive environment by modeling cultural expectations and guiding leaders to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience, required. Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Econometrics, Computer Science or other quantitative field, preferred.
  • 10 + years relevant experience
  • Preferably with data science background, effective in coding languages such as R, Python etc. and can lead data science strategies working with the business
  • Deep knowledge of statistical/data mining methods and successful business applications
  • Extensive knowledge of data/information stewardship, governance and management principles and applications
  • Advanced ability to implement analytical recommendations and models that deliver significant sustained business impact
  • Broad knowledge of insurance and/or financial industry operations
  • Advanced working knowledge of operational efficiency principals and best practices
  • Understand the principles underlying the relationship among facts and apply this understanding when solving problems
