The Role: Head of Emerging Benchmarks

The Location: London, New York City, Houston, Singapore

Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 15

The Team: This role is part of the Market Reporting & Trading Solutions Business Line leadership team within the Commodity Insights Division. The role is responsible for leading the Emerging Benchmarks pricing team globally. The global head plays an essential role in driving forward our global Emerging Benchmarks coverage including the development of new assessments, strengthening existing benchmarks and other pricing coverage, as well as driving excellence in news coverage in collaboration with the global news team. The global head manages a global team spanning the key sectors of Energy Transition, Chemicals, Biofuels, Agriculture & Food, Fertilizers and Shipping Markets.

What\'s in it for you: This position provides the opportunity to play a highly involved strategic role within S&P Global Commodity Insights by defining and managing the Emerging Benchmarks portfolio. The Head of Emerging Benchmarks provides overall strategy for the group as well as decision-making around key benchmarks. They also engage comprehensively internally and externally with key stakeholders, including through methodology development and other discussions.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives the overall growth strategy for emerging benchmarks, ensuring it fits into the overall sub-division strategy, vision, and business plan, including shifting Business Line revenue mix over time.
  • Oversees methodology design and development - Defines approach for research and analysis of emerging commodity market activity to provide price assessments used by clients as benchmarks and reference prices in commodity trading to settle physical and derivatives trades across commodity markets.
  • Responsible for driving the vertically oriented emerging benchmarks part of the business through organic and inorganic means and acquiring information to drive relevance and grow at a faster rate.
  • Strategic Market Engagement - Manage relationships with key market participants and strategic relationships and partnerships with exchanges around the world wishing to leverage benchmarks.
  • Implement new content and support development of products aligned to Commodity Insights business goals and ensure relevance of content for customers.
What we\'re looking for:
  • Deep understanding of energy and commodity markets, risk management, pricing and analytics, reference data and indices, commodity supply chain and market analytics.
  • Experience in leading and managing a global team, including remote teams across different time zones and cultures, and the ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas effectively, strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex commodity concepts in simple terms
  • Proven ability to lead the development, execution, and management of pricing initiatives.
  • Track record of leadership roles in pricing and interaction with policy makers and regulators regarding commodity benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated strategic execution, leadership, and negotiation skills.
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $173,000 to $300,000 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
