We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Investment Services.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Investment as a first line activity ensures the prudent management of the investment portfolios in the best interest of policyholders and shareholders, within the confines of the Market/Credit/Liquidity Risk Appetite and Capital framework as well as Asset Liability Matching. Consideration must also include relevant Policyholders' Expectations, Regulatory and HSBC Global Standards requirements, and HSBC Group as well as Insurance's Sustainability policies
  • Under guidance of Group Investment COO and INSN CIO, Head of Investment Services, leads and manages a team of about 5 Investment Services team members to provide Investments' trade support/issues resolution, cash management, reconciliation, oversight on Fund Administrators/Custodians and ILPs Transaction Life Cycle Management etc.
  • Provide support to CIO on daily trade support activities
  • Collaborate with Investment, Risk, Finance and Actuarial teams etc. to support different business initiatives
  • Support Group Investment COO in investment services' projects in relation to new investment strategy, AMG collaboration, investment systems and governance processes etc.
  • Coordinate and manage different counter parties and vendors to deliver the strategic initiatives and BAU activities
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders including the CIO, CFO, Investment team, internal fund managers, external fund managers and other related functions within the bank
  • Work closely with other affiliated companies within organization such as AMG, HAIL& MSS
  • Manage relationships and regular communication with stakeholders
  • Lead and work with Investment Service team members to manage the Trade Management Life Cycle, daily BAU activities and issues escalation/resolution
  • Investment including General Accounts assets, Derivatives, Mutual Funds, Private Equities Funds, ILPs etc. such as investment purchases and disposal, corporate actions and all cash/treasury functions
  • To manage investments' trade support, cash management, reconciliation, oversight on Fund Administrators/Custodians and ILPs Transaction Life Cycle Management
  • Oversee the daily fund administration, valuation and custodians of investments, derivatives, ILPs etc.
  • Oversee the month end, quarter end and year end reporting processes and ensure all investment transactions are accurately recorded
  • Coordinate staff, internal and external resources
  • Coach team members and build a strong engagement within the team
  • Develop/retain talents and build staff succession plan
  • Take responsibility and be vigilant against financial crimes when carrying out duties and responsibilities
  • Follow all relevant policies and procedures and escalate concerns or unusual activities if needed
  • Ensure compliance to the investment mandate and other regulations, and the adoption and implementation of sound internal controls that are in line with HSBC standards
  • Lead and drive business strategic initiatives and projects
  • Manage project progress of new initiatives and escalate if needed
  • Being the SME for integration planning and implementation of Project Solanio
  • Have the transformation mind-set and think out of the box when digitizing, automating and re-engineering the different processes
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • University graduate above with solid experiences in insurance and asset management industry
  • Additional professional qualifications in Finance, Operations or Investment is a plus
Knowledge and experience:
  • Strong experience in investment services/operations
  • Minimum 15+ professional experience in investment services management with insurance companies or insurance-linked asset management companies
  • Understanding in investment instruments (e.g. Fixed Income, Equities, Alternative Investments, Private Equities, Derivatives etc. is an important consideration
Competencies:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally on a global basis
  • Strong analytical and technical skills; team player
