They compete with the largest full-featured platforms in the ecommerce enablement space and have created a niche for themselves. Offering services ranging from O2O solutions, online store openings, retail POS and advertising placements, they can deliver success to merchants in omnichannel retailing and cross-border commerce. Owing to a recent change in the team, they are looking to hire a Head of Legal & Compliance (permanent) in Singapore.
Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Legal & Compliance - SaaS drives transactional support, pre-litigation advice & inquiries besides having oversight of the compliance function.
This role will be measured on the following criteria:
Experience in cross-border transactions - ideally, the candidate has worked in 0-1 setup and been responsible for setting up the legal function from the ground up.
Team management - this role leads an experienced team, including Directors with 10-15 years\' experience in legal & compliance functions.
Policy development - you will lead the development of privacy and cyber security policies at the group level.
Contract review and negotiation - you will play a key role in negotiation of vendor contracts, dispute resolution and setting up / restructuring of legal entities in the region.
Collaboration - it is critical that you establish strong working relationships with commercial and country heads and proactively advise them on potential legal issues.
Ownership of the group compliance - while there will be a compliance head in place to manage the day to day in the function, the ownership for group compliance lies with this role.
Profile
LLB or JD from a reputable Law School
Minimum ten years PQE, with at least four years in-house experience in a regional platform or software business that\'s grown from early stage to exit or late stage.
Strong understanding of legal & regulatory frameworks in the APAC region, with experience in setting up new entities or restructuring in ASEAN, HK, TW etc.
Experienced team leader, having led teams of 15-30 headcounts in an in-house legal role.
Organized, meticulous and logical approach to problem solving.
Strong communication skills, as you need to advise the CFO, CEO, COO, and other country heads in this role.
In-house experience in software, data, cybersecurity, or ecommerce platform would be incredibly helpful in this role.
Flexibility to travel and short term relocation based on need.
