About the Team: Our Global Legal team provides key support for all TikTok\xe2\x80\x99s innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The TikTok team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright and capable legal professionals to join the team. The Head of Legal, SEA+AUNZ will lead a team of legal professionals focused on commercial and product legal matters across multiple countries in the region. This role will provide senior leadership in the region and will partner with our Privacy, Litigation, IP, and Compliance legal teams. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic advice to business leaders on a broad variety of legal matters to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
Develop and implement standards, policies and processes relating to commercial contracts and issues related to data privacy
Create a strategic and collaborative approach for legal and product teams globally to provide legal risk mitigation strategies to ensure legal compliance for TikTok and other products from a global legal perspective
Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret a broad range of agreements and provide risk assessments, as well as tactical & strategic advice to business teams
Monitor, highlight and address key legal trends, risks and opportunities, including supporting government relations and policy teams with advocacy on draft legislation
Support crisis management in the regions
Lead, grow, and engage high performing teams and leaders
Work cross-functionally with colleagues in related functions to support global businesses, including communications, HR, and internal audit functions, as well as other regional compliance teams.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
JD or equivalent degree from an accredited Law School
Member in good standing of a Bar Association
15+ years of relevant legal experience including at least 5 years in-house, preferably with deep experience in technology, intellectual property, and digital entertainment matters
Proven ability to represent multi-national companies across multiple markets
Prior experience supporting a heavy volume of commercial transactions across various business functions in a fast-paced environment
A solid understanding of general product and policy concerns for the entertainment and tech industry
An experienced leader, ready to attract, develop, and retain best in class legal professionals
Outstanding analytical, communication, organizational, negotiation, and drafting skills
Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from the Global Legal team and business stakeholders
Excellent communication skills, including exceptional legal writing skills and the ability to craft persuasive and concise briefs
