Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.Come and be a part of this success.About the RoleReporting to VP Sales & Marketing and working within a collaborative, global and high-performing environment, you will provide senior leadership to teams focused on long-term strategy and planning for Iron Ore Marketing, providing Marketing inputs into Asset/BHP growth projects, technical Marketing support for Customers, and converting strategy into medium-term sales plans.As the Head of Marketing Strategy - Iron Ore you will be accountable for:Providing leadership and coordinating the definition of the Marketing strategy for the Iron Ore market, integrating long-term market developments and Asset growth options to define an optimal Marketing and supply-chain strategy, in collaboration with Sales, Asset and BHP Portfolio Strategy teams.Leading the corporate planning activities for Iron Ore Marketing including sales planning, supply chain planning and product development optimisation.Engaging with Sales team globally, Iron Ore Asset and Portfolio Strategy teams to develop a forward Sales and Marketing plan, with a product placement strategy and future options, to ensure Marketing can deliver optimum outcomes in execution in any market conditions.Leading the Technical Marketing team focusing on supporting deeper customer engagement/understanding, product placement with relevant customers/markets, managing quality performance with the Asset, and providing technical inputs to support the definition of the long-term product strategy.Ensuring clearly defined technical engagement plans are in place and executed for key customers, regulatory bodies, research providers and external commercial laboratories.Developing market monitoring framework to understand market evolution/trends to provide the Sales team with value generating opportunities.

  • Effectively working with the wider Sales and Marketing team and Asset for the successful identification and delivery of productivity initiatives. Structuring the continuous improvement processes for the Iron Ore Sales and Marketing team.
  • Developing / maintaining techno-economic models to understand short- and long-term price relativities (\xe2\x80\x9cvalue in use\xe2\x80\x9d models) and ensuring these models are benchmarked against market performance and integrated effectively to Asset plans.
  • Represents BHP and engages with key customers and stakeholders of the Iron and Steel industry globally. Including relationships with Price Reporting Agencies.
  • Working collaboratively to achieve results within the Iron Ore Sales and across the broader Marketing team and BHP teams.

As the Head of Marketing Strategy - Iron Ore, you will be based in Singapore.About YouHaving led global, cross-cultural teams, you will have experience in metals or bulk commodity marketing roles and/or with strategy/long-term planning for commodity operations. You will be confident in working in a complex and ever-changing external landscape, where you will draw on your ability to strategize and problem solve to deliver on outcomes that positively impact an organisation today and in the future.A deep commercial mindset will be advantageous, as will your ability to think strategically across multiple dimensions. Good understanding of risk management principles will be important, including the ability to design and test strategic scenarios. With world-class communication, negotiating and influencing skills, you will be at ease in building a wide array of internal and external relationships.You are an inclusive and inquisitive leader, whose teams achieve outstanding outcomes solving large, complex issues. Additionally, you have a good track record in building capability and mentoring teams, along with having previously led diverse teams that span across various time zones and cultures.A tertiary qualification is required (e.g. Engineering, Economics, Commerce) and a post graduate qualification will be well regarded. Ability to understand and apply technical concepts will be important, in particular in the context of steel making.
