Our client, a renowned UK-based international school group opening its new campus in Singapore, is seeking a

Head of Nursery (Founding Early Years Leader)

. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to establish a flagship early years programme from the ground up -- shaping the vision, culture, and standards of excellence for one of Singapore's newest British international schools.


As part of the school's leadership team, the Head of Nursery will oversee all aspects of the new Nursery and Kindergarten's design, launch, and growth -- from curriculum development and staffing to operations, compliance, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Founding Vision

Lead the establishment of the new Nursery and Kindergarten from concept to opening and beyond. Develop and implement a strategic plan covering curriculum, staffing, enrolment, facilities, compliance, and marketing. Shape the educational ethos and operational model of the Nursery in line with the school's British international values. Build a distinctive identity for the Nursery that celebrates creativity, curiosity, and holistic child development.

Curriculum Design & Pedagogical Excellence

Design a play-based, inquiry-driven curriculum aligned with UK EYFS principles and international best practice. Develop frameworks for assessment, observation, and documentation of learning. Ensure seamless progression into Reception and the Junior School. Embed strong foundations in language, early literacy and numeracy, creative arts, and outdoor learning.

Team Building & Leadership

Recruit, mentor, and inspire a founding team of early years educators. Lead professional development and performance management from inception. Create systems and structures that foster collaboration, high standards, and continuous improvement.

Operational Start-Up & Growth Management

Oversee the setup of classrooms and play environments to the highest international standards. Lead operational readiness, ensuring compliance with Singapore early childhood regulations and ECDA licensing. Partner with admissions and marketing to build awareness, drive enrolment, and position the Nursery as a school of choice. Manage budgets effectively and ensure resource optimisation during start-up and growth.

Parent & Community Engagement

Build a warm, connected parent community based on trust and open communication. Lead parent information sessions and represent the Nursery at events, open houses, and professional networks.

Safeguarding, Inclusion & Child Wellbeing

Serve as or deputise for the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, and emotional wellbeing for all children. Lead initiatives that promote confidence, empathy, and resilience.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master's preferred). Recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, EYTS, or equivalent). Minimum 5-7 years of early years teaching experience, with at least 3 in a leadership role. Proven success in establishing or expanding an early years setting. Deep knowledge of EYFS, inquiry-based pedagogy, and international best practices. Experience in a British or international school context preferred. Qualifications eligible for recognition by Singapore's

Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)

, such as

DECCE-L (Leadership)

or equivalent, will be advantageous. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. Visionary, child-centred leader with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
