Role Responsibilities
  • The Head, Risk and Policy Governance, WM COO SG is responsible for working with the Wealth Management Business and Operations teams on policy implementation, governance and advisory, and in doing so manage the risks faced by said teams and for supporting the WM COO in his role as the delegated Country Process Owner for WM processes.
Policies
  • Responsible for reviewing all relevant Group policies / procedures / standards of the Bank to assess if the WM Business and Operations teams are in compliance with the requirements stipulated therein.
  • Responsible for performing gap analysis of current practices within the WM Business and Operations teams against the requirements of relevant Group policies / procedures / standards and ensuring that the necessary measures and action plans are put in place so that there are no breaches against the requirements.
  • Responsible for advising the WM Business and Operations teams on the requirements stipulated in the relevant Group policies / procedures / standards of the Bank.
  • Responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on new and amended Group policies / procedures / standards, and challenge said documents if there is opportunity for improvement.
Risk
  • Responsible for supporting the WM COO in his role as the delegated Country Process Owner for WM processes, which includes the review of proposed residual risk assessments of key WM process such as Product Management and Wealth Sales & Advisory, and the design and assessment of key controls.
  • Responsible for managing the risks of WM Business and Operations initiatives and process changes through the performance of Change Risk Assessments, Post Implementation Reviews etc.
  • Responsible for supporting the WM Business and Operations teams in minimizing operational risks and losses and ensuring that material risk and loss events are investigated and remediated to prevent recurrence.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate governance and oversight over operational risk, through the escalation and appropriate resolution of relevant risk exposures to Retail Banking Operational Risk Forum (RBORF), Country Operational Risk Committee (CORC) and Process Governance Committee (PGC) as required.
  • Responsible for escalation of issues, blockages, challenges and trends to the regional lead, COO and business head when required.
Audits & Reviews
  • Responsible for fronting and managing all internal and external audits and peer reviews.
  • Responsible for collaborating with stakeholders such as the Business Risk Management (BRM) team to complete Management Action Plans until all issues are closed and potential risks are mitigated.
  • Responsible for undertaking predictive risk management through the monitoring of emerging risks, thematic reviews, deep dives etc.
Governance
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate governance and oversight of WM\xe2\x80\x99s outsourced functions and activities, including that the outsourcing activity complies with internal and external requirements.
  • Responsible for the crafting and review of submissions to various forums such as the Wealth Management Business Governance Meeting (WM BGM), Country Non-Financial Risk Forum (NFRF) etc.
  • Responsible for representing the WM COO team at governance meetings with external business partners.
People and Talent
  • Responsible for driving appropriate culture and behaviours within the team. Setting appropriate tone and expectations for the team, work in collaboration with risk and control partners across all functions.
  • Responsible for building a professional team with the relevant skills and knowledge base to effectively perform their roles.
  • Responsible for identifying talent within the team and providing stretch opportunities to develop the individual and succession plan to provide the business with a credible alternative for operational continuity in control.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Wealth Management along with governance and control function exposure in Financial services
  • Strong understanding of Wealth Management related policies, procedures and products (eg. Capital Markets, Mutual Funds & Insurance)
  • Experience in Wealth related Operational Risk management, which includes understanding of key control design and assessment
  • Experience in managing internal and external audits and other governance-related reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and manage a team with values akin to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s behaviours
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • A deep experience and understanding of WM products and its operations is required to establish business governance across various controls and policies for the wide and complex product suite of WM.
  • A clear understanding of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s approach to the management of operational risk and a sound judgment is necessary to perform a risk and control role while at the same time maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation, leveraging resources across the organisation to complete deliverables with the ability to influence across all levels of business.
  • Strong analytical skills, highly logical train of thought and detail-focused with the ability to interpret large volume of information is required to drive the consistent standard of governance.
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision.
