High School Library Assistant

Job Description




  • Operating information/reference/circulation desks and student supervisory duties as assigned
  • Helps to facilitate room bookings, special events, and other systems/programs supported by the Library.
  • Collaborates with the library team and other parts of the SAS HS to enhance the student experience.
Shared responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional support to students, teachers, and the greater community through:
  • active listening and learning,
  • sourcing materials and references, and
  • supporting / celebrating projects.
  • Daily opening and closing duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements
Qualifications Required:
  • Diploma from a recognised Polytechnic is required. Professional qualifications Library and/or Information Science, preferably with a background in digital library and digital scholarship projects implementation would be an advantage.
  • Professional working experience in a library or research setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital library applications, digital curation, and working with teenagers/ high school students preferred.
  • Positive work attitude and initiative.
  • Good interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, and the SAS community.
