Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore\'s largest nature reserve.

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is looking to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner to provide support to the German Section of the school. The role will support designated departments in Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Management, Engagement and Retention. The role will also act as an HR Consultant within the Academic Sections and/or Administration supporting closely on people matters.

The role:

This position reports to the Director of HR, will work collaboratively with the HR Team and be a direct Business Partner to the Head of German Section at GESS supporting the following key areas:

Talent Acquisition

Work closely with Head of Section for talent acquisition matter

Facilitate the talent acquisition process including developing job descriptions, sourcing, screening, and conduct competency-based interviews to ensure right candidate is hired and offer making.

Partner with Head of Section, HR Services and HR Manager to enhance and enrich the overall candidate experience and onboarding process for new joiners.

Engagement

Partner with Head of Section and Director of HR to collaborate in improving engagement within the divisions, ensuring expectations are properly set and clear priorities established while continually upholding the School\'s values

Provide counselling to business on trends in internal employee relations issues

Conducts exit interviews, shares information and highlights opportunities for improvement

Strategic Resourcing

Partner with Head of Section and HR Manager to identify future talent needs and proactively recruit and source, develop talent pool or Talent bench strength

Collaborate with HR Services and work closely with management in the successful implementation and communication of HR policies, processes and initiatives related to human resources, organizational and employee development

Identify retention risks and makes recommendation for retention

Stakeholder Management

Build effective relationship within the organizations with various departments to work in collaboration towards the success of organizational goals

Building profitable and collaborative relationships with external search firms and training providers including contracts negotiation.

Legislation and Data Compliance

Keep abreast with the updated Ministry of Manpower (MOM) regulations

Be responsible for new work pass applications and renewals for the division

Responsible of accurate data entry of the new joiners in the HRIS

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelors\' degree in HR or business-related program
  • 3-5 years of combined experience in a HR generalist role
  • Excellent spoken and written English is a must; Good German language proficiency skill required to liaise with German clients and authorities
  • Experience of working with MOM regarding matters relating to employment passes
  • Knowledge of Singapore employment law and fair recruitment practices
  • Is the "go to" person on all local HR issues for staff in the German Section
  • Hands on knowledge of working on ATS for Talent Acquisition and working experience on LinkedIn Recruiter

Our School

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited \'Excellent German School Abroad\', the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates.

Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.

Children aged 2 years onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups. In addition to an outstanding academic education, GESS strives to teach students community values such as respect, openness and diversity.
