ILLUSTRATOR-DeSIGNER / ILLUSTRATOR-ANIMAtoR

JOB SCOPE

• Part A: Live visual summaries, known as graphic recording, for client workshops, industry conferences, & strategic meetings (training will be provided)

• Part B: Designing & illustrating infographics; inclusive of light copy-writing, graphic design, & collaborating with animators & interaction designers

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

NECESSARY

• Digital illustration on Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, & equivalent
• Usage of Adobe Creative Suite
• Highly fluent in English
• Demonstrated interest in hand-drawn illustration & visual arts for 3 - 5 years minimum
• Same timezone as Singapore

• Demonstrated interest in technology (e.g. analytics, programming, experience with tech startups)
• Fluency in another language

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

We come from a wide range of disciplines! A degree in visual communications is good-to-have but not necessary, as long as you have a visual arts portfolio to share. Possess other relevant skills, such as animation or programming? Include them in your application to let us know!




Your email should include:

• Your latest portfolio in PDF form
• Your art portfolio accounts (personal website, Behance, Instagram, Vimeo etc.)
• Your updated CV / resume
• What interests you about graphic recording and/or infographic design
• What work arrangement you’d be interested in (freelance / full-time)

Graphic Recording

Task: Create a graphic recording for this 6-mins talk. Suggested workflow:

• Take a look at our graphic recordings (Digital | Physical)
• Prepare your preferred materials (e.g. markers / digital tools) and an A4 canvas (paper / digital)

• Watch the video & take note of the key points. If you are feeling confident, you may start graphic recording as you watch the video.
  • For a realistic experience, turn off the captions, and refrain from rewinding the video!
• Post-video, finish up your graphic recording within 30 minutes.
• For physical attempts, take a good photo of your graphic recording. For digital attempts, export your work as a .jpeg.

We look out for:

• the ability to capture and synthesise key points;
• information organisation with relevant illustrations; and
• visual hierarchy.

HAND-DRAWN INFOGRAPHIC

Task: Create a black & white draft based on this sample brief. Suggested workflow:

• Take a look at our hand-drawn infographics (e.g. DBS Asia X ; Singapore Data Centres Sustainability e-Challenge)
• Read the brief and synthesise the content.
• Create a black & white sketch of the infographic. Feel free to add colours if you are feeling it!

We look out for:

• the ability to synthesise complex information into concise points;
• clear information organisation with an eye for graphic design, and
• the ability to draw corporate-friendly illustrations.
