Description of Role

We have an opportunity for an intern to assist the Life & Health Actuarial area with projects and tasks. This role will be reporting to the local Reserving Actuary and is ideal for current students or recent graduates who are interested in gaining a better understanding of actuarial reserving topics in the insurance and reinsurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the production of quarterly IFRS4 and local accounting figures.
  • Help develop sensibility checks for IFRS17 production, that can be quickly used to verify the accuracy of inputs.
  • Produce experience studies of treaties that diverge from pricing assumptions.
  • Support Long-Term Stress Testing (LTST) exercise for Climate Change Risk.
  • Support process innovation in cashflow and reserve production processes.
  • Support the reserving team by participating in historical reserve reviews.
  • Support the company in planning and organising of Corporate Responsibility events.
  • Any other required duties, projects and tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Key Requirements / Experience / Skills
  • Currently working towards a university degree in a related field, e.g. Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management etc.
  • Eligible to work in Singapore (Singapore Citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident, Student Pass).
  • Fluency in English is mandatory and fluency in Chinese or other Asian languages is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge in Actuarial & Finance areas (familiar with IFRS4, IFRS17, Solvency II, MAS regulations)
  • Knowledge or prior experience in a (re)insurance related company is advantageous.
  • Minimum commitment of 6 months is required and able to work for at least 3 full days per week.
  • A strong desire to learn the ropes in preparation for a career in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • A team player with strong service quality mind-set, adaptable, analytical, detail-oriented, independent, proactive, reliable, resilient, self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Comfortable with working with data and working under pressure and uncertainty.
  • Culturally savvy with broad international exposure, ideally from an experience abroad, e.g. exchange semester, overseas internship experience, or similar.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative and leadership qualities, e.g. co-curricular activities, previous internships, volunteer work, etc.
  • Provide analytical or intellectual ability, as demonstrated by an outstanding academic track record or similar achievements.
  • Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel knowledge, PowerPoint, Word).
