What the role is:The Syariah Court (SYC) is the primary institution for settling disputes between divorcing and divorced Muslim couples. We also issue inheritance certificates to beneficiaries of deceased persons. The Syariah Court aspires to be a reliable, dynamic and just court which inspires confidence. SYC has provided marriage counselling services since 1958. It was formalised in 2004 as an administrative pre-court programme to help save marriages by providing a safe and neutral platform for Muslim married couples to explore reconciliation, and if that is not possible, to facilitate amicable divorce and explore post-divorce options and responsibilities such as co-parenting. As part of capability building and training for the counsellors from all MCP agencies and Resource Persons (RPs), SYC organised training and networking sessions (xe2x80x9cCOPxe2x80x9d) twice a year, as a platform for SYC and our partners such as MSF, to share updates on work process, programme updates and potential collaborations. SYC is looking at co-creation of a Marriage Counselling Programme (MCP) Training Framework (through reviewing the existing frameworks of ROMM-SYC initiatives) with our MCP agencies and RPs. The new training framework will place emphasis on the MCP agencies and RPs capability building through trainings to equip them with relevant skills and knowledge to better support couples undergoing marriage counselling programme. What you will be working on:
