ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our dynamic team as an IT Engineer, leveraging expertise in technical support, computer installation, network maintenance, and problem resolution. We seek an individual proficient in effective communication, stakeholder management, and possessing a keen understanding of IT fundamentals. This role requires active involvement in project preparations, exposure to various IT segments, and attendance at vessels as per schedule. Full-time position based in Singapore, offering opportunities for travel and hands-on experience in diverse IT environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to technical support calls/emails from vessels, addressing computer, network, application, and connectivity issues
Install and set up new computers, network infrastructure (up to L2), and software on vessels or onshore
Maintain network infrastructure drawings for each vessel and collaborate with the support team to resolve cases remotely
Diagnose and resolve network problems, hardware, and software faults
Manage hardware and software inventories for each vessel
Actively participate in project preparations or solutions as assigned by the IT Manager
Gain exposure to various IT segments, including OT equipment, CCTV, WiFi infrastructure, and satellite communications
Attend vessels based on the attendance plan scheduled by the vessel coordinator or IT Manager
Assist the warehouse coordinator with pickup, delivery, and packing when required
Provide IT briefings to vessel and office members as needed
Undertake any other IT tasks assigned by the IT Manager
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or related fields
Minimum 1 year of experience in a technical support role
Prior experience in the shipping/maritime industry is highly valued
Willingness to travel to various island-wide and occasional overseas locations to support vessels, take over vessels, or assist with new delivery vessels (no sailing required)
Requires incumbent to be fit to board vessels a few days per month, as this commitment is required for the role to fulfil job requirements
Basic to intermediate proficiency in IT networking, Windows OS, MS Office, WiFi networking, network infrastructure, firewall, VLANs, and routing
Flexibility with irregular working hours, including weekends and public holidays, depending on the vessel's schedule and arrival
Ability to work independently and be responsible for preparing proper documentation for work completion
Eagerness to learn and driven to excel in the role
