The IT Infrastructure Transition Project Manager will lead and manage the end-to-end transition and migration of IT services across multiple technology platforms. This role involves overseeing service implementation, device onboarding onto monitoring platforms, service desk transition, and the technical operations "as-is" takeover through resource augmentation. The manager will ensure seamless infrastructure transformation with minimal disruption to business operations, aligning with organizational goals and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure Migration and Transition
Lead migration projects involving IT services across diverse technology platforms including on-premises, cloud (AWS, Azure), and hybrid environments.
Manage data center migrations, cloud transitions, and infrastructure consolidation with minimal downtime and risk.
Define and implement migration strategies for network, security, server, and storage components aligned with business objectives.
Develop and execute detailed transition plans covering all migration steps from current to future operating models.
Coordinate with IT architects and technical teams to establish integration frameworks, security policies, and compliance standards.
2. Service Implementation and Device Onboarding
Oversee the onboarding of devices onto monitoring platforms ensuring compatibility, optimal configuration, and minimal operational disruption.
Implement structured device onboarding processes to enable efficient asset tracking, monitoring, and management.
Collaborate with IT teams to tailor onboarding procedures to meet specific user and operational requirements.
3. Project and Stakeholder Management
Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies.
Coordinate across business units, engineering teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure alignment and collaboration.
Provide regular project updates, governance reporting, and stakeholder communications to ensure transparency and engagement.
Identify and proactively mitigate risks related to infrastructure stability, security, and scalability.
4. Team Leadership and Resource Management
Leads and mentors a team of project managers, fostering their professional growth and development.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including project managers, executives, and stakeholders, to ensure effective communication and alignment.
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Manage resource allocation, identify skill gaps, and coordinate training to enhance team capabilities.
Standardize Project management methodology and supporting process and documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience:
10+ years in IT infrastructure with at least 5-6 years in project or program management roles involving infrastructure migration and transition.
Proven track record managing complex IT infrastructure migrations across multiple platforms and cloud environments.
Strong knowledge of networking, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), security, and IT operations.
Hands-on experience with device onboarding processes and monitoring platform integrations.
Expertise in ITIL service management frameworks and service desk operations.
Excellent project management skills including planning, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities with experience in resource augmentation and operational handover.
Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL Foundation, or cloud-specific certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator).
Experience with automation tools, monitoring platforms, and capacity planning.
