Job Description

Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets ("CGM") Group Legal team is seeking a talented junior lawyer to join the team in Singapore. As a Lawyer within CGM, you will be primarily supporting the Commodities Markets and Financing division. The Commodities Markets and Financing division focuses on a diverse range of business activities involving both physical and financial commodities transactions.

This role will assist senior lawyers across all aspects of the CGM business in the Asia region, with a focus on:

• trading across a broad range of commodities;
• structuring of trade finance transactions and supporting business to develop commodities financing products and instruments; and
• financial derivative documentation and advice.

You will play an integral role in the continued growth of our business. You will give legal advice to the front office, internal risk and compliance teams as well as support on regulatory reform and continuous improvement initiatives. The role offers an excellent challenge and will give you great exposure to a variety of work.

This is the role for you if:

• You have at least 3 years post-qualified experience in commodities trading and/or finance, gained from within a law firm, financial institution or trading house.
• Knowledge of commodity markets and familiarity with derivatives and general finance documentation would be highly desirable.
• You bring with you drive and commitment alongside strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• You possess a keen eye for detail and an excellent standard of work with demonstrated commercial astuteness and ability to demonstrate quick and sound judgment across a range of complex matters.
• You enjoy working in a collaborative, team-based environment and are motivated to help achieve commercial outcomes for the business.
• You have the ability to build strong working partnerships with stakeholders and clients and demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer with a passion for commodities to join a successful in-house legal practice and will allow the successful candidate to leverage their professional skills within a dynamic and collaborative business environment.
