Job Description
What the role is:Provide technical support in casework examinations, laboratory operation, instrument maintenance, quality assurance and research and development activities, with the objective of providing reliable, timely and efficient forensic
services.
- Perform testing of drugs and metabolites in biological samples which includes sampling, extraction and instrumental analysis in accordance with laboratory manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as analytical balances, laboratory centrifuges, chromatography and mass spectrometry systems.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments.
- Prepare reagents and maintain inventories of laboratory consumables.
- Assist in laboratory quality assurance duties.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping.
- Assist in developing and validating new techniques and methods for testing of drugs and metabolites in biological samples.
- Relevant background in Applied Chemistry or in other relevant fields
- Basic knowledge of extraction and chromatography.
- Team player with efficient time management and attention to details.
