What the role is:The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and support the Home Team Departments (HTD) operations in maintaining order and enhancing security for Singapore. As our Engineer/Lead Engineer working in Vehicle & Weapon Systems CoE, you will lead the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the field of electric vehicle solutions. You will develop and deliver various electric vehicle solutions that can not only fulfil the diverse range of Home Team missions, such as policing and fire fighting and rescue, but are also safe and intuitive to operate. You are expected to explore new technical solutions, and to partner the Home Team Departments and other key stakeholders to formulate new concept of operations and governance frameworks with electric vehicles, to ensure continued mission success for the various Home Team missions. As such, you will also be directly contributing to the advancement of Singapore's national agenda on sustainable development and to achieve Singapore's net zero emissions aspirations. Reporting to a Head, the job holder will explore, exploit, and integrate various electric vehicle technologies to deliver solutions that can meet the desired operational capabilities.What you will be working on:Partner HTDs to identify potential use cases for electric vehicles, and to assess the identified use cases through frontend capability studies, and proof-of-concept trials, to improve and expand HTD operations. Lead the conceptualisation and development of electric vehicle solutions including prototyping to demonstrate new technological capabilities. Understand and apply the technical references for electric vehicles and the requirements to clear the relevant authorities, such as LTA, in order to deploy electric vehicles on Singapore public roads. Continuous upgrading and acquiring new knowledge and capabilities across existing and new electric vehicle solutionings, to keep abreast of EV industry advancement to provide guidance on emerging trends and their potential impact on EV operational deployment strategies. Lead and manage various other vehicle projects to force multiply the HTDs. Lead design reviews and project meetings with local and overseas contractors and research institutes.What we are looking for:Good honour degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or any other relevant degrees. Preferably with at least 3 years (Engineer) / 6 Years (Lead Engineer) of relevant working experiences in system integration, vehicle development, and system engineering. Innovative and willingness to learn new skills and to expand into new domains. Good problem solver with initiative to resolve ground issues. Strong project management skillset will be advantageous. Effective presentation and communication skills. *** All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
