Working Arrangement In Office

Job Summary: Build, code, test and maintain high quality software. Individual Accountabilities:

  • Participates in Agile sprints and ceremonies; supports rapid iteration and development
  • Translates user requirements into software requirements
  • Designs, develops, tests, delivers, maintains and improves business applications as a member of a team, works across full-stack through entire software development lifecycle
  • Accepts and modifies specifications and standards
  • Builds and codes complex software
  • Manages portions of development project
  • Coaches teammates at lower levels
  • Has positive impact to specific organizational entities & understands nature of impact
  • Top contributor and often enables others to contribute as well
Job Requirements:
  • Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of how technology supports Manulife business strategy
  • Familiar with platform technologies
  • Familiar with modern software architectures and API-driven development
  • Familiar with scripting languages
  • Prioritizes efficient code production by using open-source frameworks and patterns
  • Multiple contexts and engineering languages
  • Writes tutorials and gives training
  • Demonstrates all core skills, and some interpersonal skills beyond requirements for role
  • High level of discipline knowledge and understanding of area of practice
  • Able to combine knowledge of discipline and the market, some perspective on customer requirements
  • Participates in demos utilizing new tech.; self-directed controls
  • Understands the overall 'picture' in most situations

Technical Skills
  • Java SpringBoot
  • API development (Apigee or other API gateway solution)
  • Cloud Native Application development (Pivotal Cloud Foundry or other PaaS solution)
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL skills
  • Angular 2+ or other front-end framework technologies (preferred)
Technical Experience
  • 7+ years experience in driving the adoption of Microservices/API based architecture at scale
  • 7+ years experience working in Lean and Agile frameworks (Scaled Agile/Scrum/Kanban)
  • 7+ years experience with DevOps tools and Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD),
  • 7+ years experience in Containerisation (eg. Docker) and Container Orchestration (eg. Kubernetes)
  • 7+ years experience in RESTful/Swagger API development, hosting and management
Experience
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in designing and developing integrated digital solutions.
  • Extensive experience in building in Microservices and Cloud Native Applications
  • Extensive experience in delivering user-centric front-end applications (web and/or mobile)
  • Experience in delivering projects from inception through to post-implementation warranty using Agile DevSecOps project delivery methodologies.
  • Experience in delivering projects involving stakeholders from multiple locations
  • Solid understanding of software delivery processes and tools (i.e. distributed version control systems, CI/CD)
  • Functional understanding of cloud services (Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry)
  • Recognize the importance of high quality code through non-negotiables like unit tests, integration/acceptance tests, performant, secure.
  • Insurance industry knowledge is seen as advantageous
Software Engineering Leadership
  • Ensure programming best practices & quality gates are followed
  • Ability to drive new technology analysis & discussion
  • Ability to deliver under high pressure
  • Ensure application integrity as product roadmap & business requirements.
  • Committed team player
  • Proven track record of developing applications using Agile methodology.
Technical Skills
  • Expert knowledge in Java frameworks (Spring) and libraries.
  • Expert knowledge in Cloud Native Development using PaaS solutions and containerization
  • Expert knowledge in API Driven Development
  • Expert knowledge in modern front-end web technologies, including Single Page Applications, Web Components, Service Workers and micro-frontends.
  • Expert knowledge in API Gateways, Messaging, Data Event Streaming, REST, Distributed Tracing, Relational and Document Database Interface/SQL
  • Experience in the design, development and testing of microservices
  • Delivery methodology Agile, TDD/BDD/DDD within DevSecOps environment
  • Knowledge of Mobile Application Development
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and/or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Knowledge of Cloud Services, preferably Azure.
