OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: To lead and supervise a team of piping engineers and designers. To independently define concepts and critical deliverables, plan, manage, control, approve, and deliver engineering deliverables required for the assigned project effectively and efficiently according to specified technical requirements, timelines and budget, manage project resources and independently deal with and resolve all issues of the project, and provide guidance to the assigned team. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Defines the concepts, prepares the schedule of piping deliverables and plans the piping activities keeping in line with overall project schedule, delegates the tasks to engineers and designers assigned to the project and monitors the progress to meet the project timelines.
Understands and gets fully conversant with the technical specifications and requirements of the assigned project including the Industry Standard, Classification Society and applicable Local Statutory or Regulatory requirements.
Reviews project specifications for piping materials, valves, piping design, pipe stress analysis and supports, piping fabrication, insulation and flange management prepared using MODEC corporate specifications and modified suitably to meet the project-specific requirements.
Finalizes the Equipment Layout addressing the process requirements and the requirements from various disciplines, material handling, constructability and installations, operations and maintenance, and safety including skid package interfaces and tie-ins.
Reviews calculations, stress analysis reports and allowable nozzle loads, piping standard details and drawings, documents and data sheets prepared by engineers working on the assigned project.
Validates the specifications, data sheets, drawings and documents with Project Engineering Manager and issues these for use in engineering design, in construction or for RFQ purposes, including prior approval from Client where such approvals are mandatory.
Provides inputs for Conversion and Repair Specification, reviews rip out plans, machinery arrangement layout and piping arrangement guidance drawings for hull marine contractor to perform the work accordingly.
Participates in technical meetings, progress reviews, 3D Model reviews; addresses piping layout issues, interface/implementation/execution issues, and escalates where necessary to maintain timely and smooth progress on the project.
Closely Co-ordinates with Engineering Contractor and other disciplines\xe2\x80\x99 Leads Engineers to ascertain that changes/modifications are timely captured in piping engineering and 3D Model.
Reviews the BOM for piping bulks, valves, piping specialty items, gaskets, stud bolts, nuts, and pipe supports. Reviews piping weights and provide inputs for weight control reports.
Reviews Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluation Reports prepared by engineers so that procurement can proceed to order based on the technical recommendations.
Monitors the progress on piping engineering of the project, piping deliverables, piping packages, and vendor documentation and guides package engineers on technical issues. When required, work closely with suppliers to resolve technical issues or visit the supplier\xe2\x80\x99s manufacturing facilities to witness the FATs.
Reviews the stress analysis reports and supporting of critical lines prepared by the Engineering Contractor (or, where necessary, carries out the piping stress analysis) with respect to the project-specific requirements and environmental conditions at the fabrication yard, during transportation, and at an operating location of the facility.
Verifies that the selected piping supports are as per flexibility analysis findings regarding support type, loads, and special requirements, as applicable. Reviews spring supports data sheets and details selected based on the stress analysis report.
Reviews or, when required, carries out the surge analysis for cargo offloading system, sea water lift pump system, and fire water system, and reviews the contractor-prepared documents and piping arrangement layout drawings.
Reviews isometrics of the critical lines to meet P&ID requirements, the material of construction, support type, and locations.
Coordinates with the Construction/Commissioning team, provide technical / engineering support and advice, and resolves construction queries on piping layout and materials.
Identifies and records the lessons learned in the course of project execution for further processing through MIMS
Guides / supervises and motivates the team members, and shares their knowledge and experience while carrying out the project work.
Shares the knowledge and experience with team members and guides the engineers and designers in carrying out the assigned task in the right and efficiently.
Leads and manages the team of piping engineers and designers on the assigned project.
Plans assigned piping tasks and keeps Section Lead and Group Leads informed of staff requirements, adequacy or redundancy of resources on assigned project.
Mentor/Train junior peers and motivate and guide them for career development.
Reports Functionally to Piping Section Lead and Operationally to Project Engineering Manager on matters related to the assigned project.
Supervises and manages the team of 20 to 25 Engineers and Designers assigned to the project.
Extensively interacts with Engineering Contractor, Construction Yard and Commissioning team, providing technical and engineering inputs and advice, and with suppliers or manufacturers executing the piping packages.
Deals with Client and Certifying Authority on technical issues.
Deals with internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Project Management, Construction, Quality, HSE, Operation on technical matters.
Mainly in the office environment. Frequent visits to the office of the Engineering Contractor, Construction Yard, and occasionally to supplier/manufacturing facilities.
Visits or short-term posting to fabrication yards, project site, or offshore facilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s in mechanical engineering or Master of Engineering
Minimum 12 years of relevant working experience in piping engineering in the oil and gas sector, preferably in FPSO or Offshore processing facilities, or a minimum of 11 years of relevant working experience for Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree holder.
Knowledge in MS Office, AutoCAD, E3D, Naviswork, Caesar II
