The main purpose of the Learning Tech Intern / Programmer is to support the above commitment by co-programming a VR interactive simulation that will be used in immersive and experiential training in the area of train maintenance.

This role will be active in Curriculum Design and Development for SMRT Trains, addressing the learning needs of our Trains Engineering and Maintenance staff.

The internship will be of six months duration.

Working schedule for the internship will be Monday-Friday 08:15-17:45 or 08:30-18:00. Reasonable time off during the week can be provided to student to attend lectures for pending modules.

Work location will be 300 Bishan Road, Bishan Depot, Administration Building Level 2, SMRT Institute, Singapore, 579828.

Responsibilities

During your internship you will be supported and guided by an experienced Senior Programmer to contribute in the creation of a fully functional Desktop/VR interactive training simulation pertaining to a Train Maintenance and Engineering process.

Your key responsibilities will include:
a. Programming and troubleshooting. (The Desktop/VR simulation will be developed in C# in Unity 3D).
b. Programming learning analytics report at end of play if required.
c. Testing the Desktop/VR simulation to identify bugs.
d. Balance the artistic, coding and optimization aspect.
e. Debugging tasks.
f. Packaging.
g. Collaboration with the subject matter experts and curriculum developers to identify the exact interactions and mechanics that need to be included in the Desktop/VR.
h. Collaboration with a full-time staff (senior programmer) on the same project.

Skills

The following technical skills and competencies are required for this project and should be demonstrated via your sample portfolio and resume:
a. Strong knowledge in C# and Unity 3D (specifically for VR).
b. Algorithm design skills.

The following personal qualities are required for a good internship fit:
a. Able to manage own time to deliver projects in a timely manner.
b. Resourceful and able to find solutions when stuck, or unfamiliar with a designing/animation issue.
c. Driven to excel in the work.
d. Strong attention to detail and able to do thorough quality checking before showcasing any work.
