.The National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine invites applications for a Lecturer position on the Educator Track Scheme in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The Department teaches medical, dental, nursing and life science students at both undergraduate and graduate levels (more information on the Department is available at . Appointments will be made on a 2 to 3 years contract basis in the first instance with possibility of extension, depending on performance.Main duties and responsibilitiesThe Lecturer will be responsible to the Head of Department and will work closely with the Education Directors to make valuable contributions to the overall excellence of education in the field of Microbiology & Immunology. The primarily role of the lecturer primarily entails providing exceptional education in various formats (i.e. lectures, tutorials, laboratory hands on practical) to teach undergraduate and graduate-level medical, dental, nursing, life science students. He/she will be expected to show teaching achievement as evidenced by positive impact on student learning as well as commitment to collegial sharing of his/her work within the local educational environment.The successful candidate will be a champion for innovation and entrepreneurship in online education, educational technology, continuing education and training (CET), or other aspects of medical and health professions education. The Lecturer will be expected to compete for independent extramural/intramural education research funding, participate and publish scholarly research in Microbiology and Immunology education. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to service to the Department and University as assigned by the Head of Department.QualificationsThe applicant should have:(a) PhD degree or equivalent, preferably in Immunology or related disciplines;
(b) Potential for development as an outstanding educator;
(c) Interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in education and/or scholarly research in education
(d) Teaching experience in higher education settings will be an advantage.Criteria for appointment will include some or all of the following;(a) Prior experience in either basic or applied immunology research.
(b) Proficient understanding of fundamental immunology, including key concepts and the functioning of immune cells and their relevance in human diseases and aging.
(c) Familiarity with the latest advancements in applied immunology, specifically in the development of biological therapeutics such as immunotherapies, vaccines, and diagnostics. This knowledge should be implemented effectively in teaching materials.
(d) Knowledge and/or interest in the interaction between host immunity and microbiome that contribute to development of human diseases.
(e) Effective design, delivery, supervision and assessment that focuses on the students\' learning process.
(f) Innovative course design and/or delivery and/or assessment (including where applicable use of technology to further these ends); and
(g) Reflective and professional approach to teaching and student learning.
(g) Work together with colleagues to develop courses, make changes to the curriculum, and engage in activities to raise scientific literacy in Singapore and globally.Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate\'s qualifications and experience.
