The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applicants with substantial experience in medical education and a track record of teaching excellence to apply for this full-time Lecturer faculty position. The primary focus of this role is that of a Team-Based Learning (TBL) facilitator, and to contribute to other key educational activities within the MBBS programme, which may include assessment, course evaluation, and student support. Some content expertise in a biomedical science area or anatomy is desirable. In addition, the appointee will contribute to educational research and/or scholarship.
Responsibilities
The new faculty will join a multidisciplinary team to facilitate TBL sessions in the MBBS curriculum, primarily in Years 1 and 2.
The key responsibilities are likely to include:
Facilitate TBL sessions, including e-TBL
Provide expertise as a content expert, as appropriate
Contribute to other key areas within the MBBS programme, which may include written examinations (question writing, quality assurance, standard setting)
To work in collaboration with Module Leads (Scientists and Clinicians) and the Course Evaluation team to respond to student and education feedback, and to contribute to curriculum review, renewal and innovation.
Contribute to medical education research and scholarship
To provide pastoral care and support to students as a House Tutor
To participate in student outreach events
Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director, Medical Education Research and Scholarship Unit (MERSU) and Vice Dean, Education
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience as an educator in a tertiary education institution
Completed PhD in a biomedical science-related subject, or PhD thesis in submission and viva date set Broad educational experience
Evidence of educational excellence
Experience in active learning pedagogies, curriculum development, assessment and/or student support
