JOB SUMMARYSupport lawyers by maintaining, drafting documents, and organizing files, calling on legal witnesses, maintaining a legal library and more.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents.
  • Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.
  • Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
  • Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details.
  • Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action.
  • Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas.
  • Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data.
  • Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings.
  • Keeping the law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes.
  • Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file databases and case management software; confirming case status with attorneys.
  • Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
  • Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review.
  • Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

EXPERIENCE
  • At least 3-5 years experience as Legal Assistant
  • A legal assistant is expected to possess excellent communication skills as the candidate has to communicate with various people such as clients, court staff, attorneys etc.

Education:
  • Elementary/ Primary school (Preferred)
Experience:
  • Legal Assistant: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Real Estate or Construction Company: 1 year (Preferred)
