Job Description

The Systems Engineer, Unix/Linux, is responsible for the administration and troubleshooting in a 24x7 enterprise setting. The job role involves the manual discovery or post actions derived from automatic alerts. The incumbent is also responsible for level 1 and level 2 Unix/Linux related technical issues.

• Responsible for the support of IT infrastructure on Unix platform
• Provide expertise in troubleshooting and identifying root cause analysis of server and application issues
• Deploy Unix/Linux packages and bug fixes to Test/PreProd/Production environments
• Adhere to change management requirements for implementation of enhancements and change requests
• Responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE administration to meet the business needs and service levels
• Manage operational changes through change request process and provide status reports to the relevant parties
• Provide 1st and 2nd level operational support of Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE
• Respond promptly to incidents, investigate and deliver temporary or permanent resolutions of incidents escalated, and provide timely status updates to relevant parties
• Ensure service levels meet the requirements, and propose and implement action plans when required
• Responsible for the implementation of service continuity measures, such as backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuity of the business operations
• Support of other Unix/Linux administration activities

\xc2\xb7 Ability to develop and maintain programs and scripts that aid in the operation and automation of administrative tasks using various shell and scripting languages (primarily bash and Python, some Go)

• Any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience in Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE administration in an enterprise level environment
• Knowledge and experience in RedHat Clustering and Oracle Solaris Clustering
• Knowledge and experience in scripting tools/language, such as Perl, Ruby and AWK
• Knowledge of Cloud support (Good to have).
• Experiencing deploying & maintaining automated configuration management software such as Puppet or Ansible (Good to have. Not a must)
• Experience deploying & maintaining virtualized environments using VMWare
• Experiencing installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Postfix, OpenLDAP, NetApp filers, VMware, Puppet/Ansible, Git, and Scripting (Python, Bash, and Go)
• Experience implementing systems-level security technologies like SELinux and following security best practices.
• RHCE certified (Good to have)
