Function Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal team supporting the growing International Wealth Management business. The Legal team is part of the Legal, Compliance and Controls (LCC) function. The LCC team comprises lawyers, compliance and governance professionals who serve Nomura\'s business across Investment Banking, Global Markets, Corporate and International Wealth Management divisions.
The International Wealth Management business operates from in Singapore Hong Kong and had recently opened a branch in the Dubai International Finance Centre.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in dealing with ongoing litigation & investigations.
  • Manage disputes, pre-litigation matters and confidential investigations across the firm\'s business activities.
  • Provide advice and support to other lawyers, compliance professionals and to business management on the process, strategy and tactics of litigation and dispute management.
  • Work with external counsel where needed.
  • Respond to enquiry and request from regulatory authority, law enforcement unit and internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer
  • Minimum 10 years\' experience of assisting litigation/ investigation and experience in financial products, services & transactions.
  • Fluent Mandarin language proficiency (read, write, speak) is required for dispute or investigative matters in the AEJ region (including Mainland China, Taiwan) that involves the use of Mandarin language .
  • Ability to cope with highly demanding and fast paced banking environment.
  • Demonstrate sound commercial experience and judgment.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, and proven ability to network, successfully engage and influence business.
