In addition, the team provides LNG related decision support to our corporate headquarters in Houston and global business units involved in the LNG value chain.
Position Overview
As an LNG Operator, you will be responsible for end-to-end execution of short- and long-term LNG trades and associated shipping, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-efficient physical delivery. You will manage scheduling, nominations, terminal coordination, cargo documentation, claims, and financial settlement activities. The role sits at the heart of the commercial value chain--translating SPAs, MS(P)As, confirmations, and charterparties into reliable physical flows--while protecting P&L through rigorous operational risk management and continuous improvement. A deep understanding of contract structuring, negotiation, optionality, relationship management, cross-functional collaboration, and market pricing dynamics is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
1) Pre-Deal & Deal Execution Support

  • Provide operational feasibility checks on spot tenders, confirmations, and optionality (DES/FOB, laycans, windows, STS feasibility, cool-down/gas-up needs, heel/BOG implications).
  • Advise traders on terminal constraints, vessel compatibility, boil-off/reliquefaction limitations, HSSE requirements, berth congestion, and weather/ETA risks.
  • Validate operational clauses in SPAs/MS(P)As, confirmations, and charterparties (NOR, laytime/demurrage, time bars, pumping/throughput, quality & measurement, Q&Q dispute mechanisms).
2) Scheduling, Nominations & Terminal Interface
  • Build and maintain integrated shipping schedules; secure slots/windows with receiving and loading terminals.
  • Issue and manage nominations, monthly/weekly/daily programs, and lifting/discharge plans; track counterpart confirmations and changes.
  • Arrange gas-up/cool-down services and manage heel planning to meet terminal specifications and minimize delays.
3) Vessel & Voyage Operations (DES/FOB)
  • For FOB: oversee loading operations, coordinate with owners/managers on voyage instructions, bunkers, BOG management, reliquefication;
  • For DES: coordinate arrival line-up, berth readiness, measurement, and discharge, including custody transfer procedures and documentation.
  • Work with Vessel Operations to monitor and optimize voyage performance (speed, waiting/anchorage, boil-off, boil-off credit usage, heel return strategy); maintain real-time ETA/ETD visibility and exceptions management.
4) Documentation & Settlement
  • Prepare, review, and dispatch shipping and cargo documentation: BL, COO, quality/quantity certificates, measurement reports, cargo manifests, letters of indemnity (as per policy), and terminal/port forms.
  • Ensure compliance with SPA/confirmation documentary timelines and conditions precedent; coordinate with finance on invoicing, payment milestones, LCs/guarantees (if applicable).
  • Maintain accurate energy calculations (GCV/NCV per standard), Wobbe Index checks, and temperature/density-based conversions; reconcile with counterparties and terminals.
5) Claims, Demurrage & Disputes
  • Calculate and resolve demurrage, deviation, and port cost claims within time bars; compile NOR, SOF, logs, and supporting evidence.
  • Lead Q&Q and custody transfer discrepancy management (measurement, vapor return, sampling, meters vs. tank, ship/shore differentials); escalate and negotiate settlements with legal support as needed.
  • Track root causes and drive recurrence prevention and commercial learnings into contract wording and playbooks.
6) Compliance, HSSE & Regulatory
  • Ensure operations comply with relevant company policies & terminal rules.
  • Execute sanctions, KYC/AML, and ABAC checks in coordination with Compliance; monitor evolving OFAC/EU/UK/UN regimes relevant to physical flows and shipping.
  • Adhere to Singapore MPA and regional regulatory requirements; participate in incident reporting, audits, and HSSE drills.
7) Data, Systems & Process Excellence
  • Maintain accurate, timely entries in ETRM and voyage/ops systems (e.g., TriplePoint/PlanLogic, IMOS, Veson, ShipNet, or equivalent); reconcile physical with financial exposures.
  • Build and automate trackers for line-ups, laytime/demurrage, documents, claims, and KPI dashboards (Excel/Power BI; Python a plus).
  • Contribute to SOPs, checklists, and playbooks; identify and deliver process improvements that reduce cost and operational risk.
8) Core Competencies, Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Act as the primary day-to-day interface with traders, chartering, risk, finance, legal, terminals, agents, surveyors, and shipowners.
  • Provide clear, proactive communication on operational risks, costs, and P&L impacts; support post-fixture meetings and after-action reviews.
  • Participate in a duty/on-call roster to cover time-sensitive events and off-hours operations.
  • Delivers accurate, on-time operations under pressure; anticipates bottlenecks and resolves conflicts fast.
  • Understands how operational choices affect P&L, optionality, and risk.
  • Strong controls orientation; vigilant on sanctions, HSSE, contractual time bars, and data integrity.
  • Comfortable with data, reconciliations, and dashboards; leverages tools to reduce cost and error.
  • Clear, calm communicator with terminals, owners, and traders; confident in escalation and negotiation.
  • Reliable team player in duty rosters; supports a global book spanning time zones.
Competency Requirements
  • Experience: 4 to 8+ years in LNG operations; strong candidates with LPG/clean tanker operations plus deep LNG exposure will be considered.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Domain Knowledge:
  • LNG trade terms (DES, FOB, DAP), SPA/confirmation mechanics, and charterparty basics.
  • LNG ship-shore compatibility, cool-down/gas-up, heel/BOG management, reliquefaction, custody transfer standards, and terminal protocols.
  • Demurrage/laytime calculations, port costs, and claims handling.
  • Sanctions/ABAC/HSSE awareness in a trading/shipping environment.
  • Tools: Advanced Excel; working knowledge of ETRM and voyage/ops platforms (e.g., TriplePoint/PlanLogic/Endur/Allegro, IMOS/Veson).
  • Power BI and Python/VBA are advantageous.
  • Language: Excellent written and spoken English; additional Asian languages are a plus for APAC counterparties.
  • Eligibility: Valid right to work in Singapore.
